The theme of this study is the Doxography of problems in physics from the Presocratics to the early first century BCE attributed to Aëtius. Part I focuses on the argument of the compendium as a whole, of its books, of its sequences of chapters, and of individual chapters, against the background of Peripatetic and Stoic methodology. Part II offers the first full reconstruction in a single unified text of Book II, which deals with the cosmos and the heavenly bodies. It is based on extensive analysis of the relevant witnesses and includes listings of numerous doxographical-dialectical parallels in other ancient writings. Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2014 im Fachbereich Latinistik - Literatur, , Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Mit „De rerum natura“ entscheidet sich Lukrez die Lehre Epikurs in der Form eines Lehrgedichts zu präsentieren. Die Verwendung mythologischer Stoffe ist untrennbar an die Gattung des Lehrgedichts gebunden: „Mythen repräsentieren, als eine privilegierte Form bildhafter Rede, den Schatz kollektiver Bilder, über die eine Kultur verfügt“. Mit der Wahl des Lehrgedichts stellt sich Lukrez sowohl in die Tradition Hesiods, als auch in die große Naturlehre des Empedokles und anderer Vorsokratiker wie Parmenides. Hesiod findet noch keinen Vorbehalt gegen den Mythos, das hellinistische Lehrgedicht hat sich bereits vom Wahrheitsgehalt des Mythos distanziert und verwendet ihn als ornatus. "deinde vocet demens quos tentat perdere Divos/ immemor ipse sui." Diesen Vorwurf äußert Kardinal Melchior de Polignac in seinem 1747erschienen Lehrgedicht „Anti-Lucretius sive de Deo et Natura“ aufgrund einer Diskrepanz, die sich in Lukrez‘ Proömium zu seinem Werk „De rerum natura“ auftut: Obwohl Lukrez in seiner Kosmologie jede göttliche Einflussnahme verbannen will, ruft er Venus als Inspirationsquelle und Friedensbringerin an. Nahm man auch von einer derart hämischen Beurteilung wie der Polignacs Abstand, so macht das Proömium nicht weniger Probleme. 1923 konstatiert Barwick: „Keine Partie an dem an Schwierigkeiten so reichen Lehrgedicht des Lukrez hat in den letzten Jahrzehnten den Philologen mehr Kopfzerbrechen bereitet als das Proömium des 1. Buches.“ Genau 80 Jahre später gilt das Proömium immer noch als „ein Dauerproblem der Lukrezforschung“. Das Problem um die Vereinbarkeit des Venushymnus mit dem philosophischen Inhalt des Gesamtwerkes fand in der Forschung breites Interesse, das Proömium selbst zählt „zu den am meisten interpretierten Stellen des Werkes“. Bevor aber das Proömium in das Blickfeld genommen wird, sollen einige allgemeine Bemerkungen zu Lukrez‘ Mythenverwendung zum besseren Verständnis verhelfen.
