Problems in the Design and Development of 750 MW Turbo-Generators covers selected problems mainly related to projected machines in the development of turbo-generators. This book describes the main lines of research at the Electromechanics Institute of the U.S.S.R. Academy of Sciences. This book is divided into six chapters and begins with an overview of the progress in the generation of electricity along with the rapid economic development of the U.S.S.R. The succeeding chapter deals with the use of efficient cooling system of the winding copper to address the problem of electrical machine's unit power performance. The discussion then shifts to a theoretical analysis of the so-called "geometric series" of large turbo-generators. A chapter examines the problems related to design of these machines, specifically the main mechanical factors limiting the dimensions of turbo-generators. The concluding chapters provide a summary of the results of the planned increase in unit output of the single-shaft 750 MW turbo-generator. This book is intended primarily to engineers, metallurgists, and scientists who deal with the problems in the development of very large turbo-generators.

Transient Phenomena In Electrical Power Systems written by N. D. Anisimova and has been published by Elsevier this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-06-20 with Technology & Engineering categories.

Transient Phenomena in Electrical Power Systems: Problems and Illustrations deals with the technique of calculating the different transient phenomena in electrical power systems. Concrete examples are given to show the character of the transient processes, and the order of magnitude is derived in some typical cases. Topics covered include equivalent circuits, steady-state quantities, and the initial conditions of a transient process. The characteristics of generators and synchronous condensers are also considered. Comprised of nine chapters, this book begins with an introduction to the units of measurement as well as the equations of the system and its elements, such as frequency regulators, turbine governors, and transformers. The second chapter presents examples of the construction of equivalent circuits and the determination of the steady-state operation of a system, along with the original condition that precedes the transient process. The third and fourth chapters deal with different characteristics of generators, synchronous condensers, and loads of electrical systems. The fifth chapter examines the general criteria of stability used in calculations of the conditions in electrical systems. Problems of static stability and the effect of large oscillations on stability are discussed in the next three chapters. The final chapter is devoted to special problems on the variation of operating conditions, frequency variation, and the flow of power between systems. This monograph is written for design engineers, operation engineers, apprentices, and students.

Basic Matrix Analysis And Synthesis written by G. Zelinger and has been published by Elsevier this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-06-20 with Technology & Engineering categories.

Electronics and Instrumentation, Volume 36: Basic Matrix Analysis and Synthesis presents the application of matrix methods to practical electronics problems. This book focuses on transistor applications. Organized into three parts, this volume begins with an overview of the fundamental theory of twoports and explains the mechanisms of matrix and determinant operations with applications to the study of twoport networks, both active and passive. This text then explains the concept of impedance transformation and image matching in the different matrix domains. This book presents as well the analysis and synthesis of active networks. The final part deals with the mathematical model concepts of transistors and vacuum tubes that are freely applied to a wide range of problems with an emphasis on practical applications such as conventional amplifiers, single-, and multi-stage transistor feedback amplifiers and oscillators. This book is a valuable resource for electronics engineers as well as for students with some grounding in mathematics and network theory.

The Theory And Practice Of Scintillation Counting written by J. B. Birks and has been published by Elsevier this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-10-22 with Technology & Engineering categories.

The Theory and Practice of Scintillation Counting is a comprehensive account of the theory and practice of scintillation counting. This text covers the study of the scintillation process, which is concerned with the interactions of radiation and matter; the design of the scintillation counter; and the wide range of applications of scintillation counters in pure and applied science. The book is easy to read despite the complex nature of the subject it attempts to discuss. It is organized such that the first five chapters illustrate the fundamental concepts of scintillation counting. Chapters 6 to 10 detail the properties and applications of organic scintillators, while the next four chapters discuss inorganic scintillators. The last two chapters provide a review of some outstanding problems and a postscript. Nuclear physicists, radiation technologists, and postgraduate students of nuclear physics will find the book a good reference material.

Electrical Analogues of Pin-Jointed Systems is a compilation of papers from members of the Rostov-on-Don Civil Engineering Institute and of the Taganrog Radiotechnical Institute, dealing with the statics and dynamics of buildings. This collection addresses the problems encountered in building mechanics. This book also discusses the principles of electrical analogues used in calculating solutions to problems involving static and dynamic structural formations. The different methods of electrical analogues are explained such as solving problems related to the resistance of materials. This text then shows the calculations using the equation of three bi-moments for solid beams with different rigidities, as well as other circuits used to calculate stresses in all parts of a static framework. In particular, the text notes that a circuit is capable of calculating the size of the current flowing in other parts of the system the stress found in the main framework. This book further notes the electrical analogues using four terminal networks and for determining the effects of temperature on structural beams and frameworks. For practical considerations, the text points out the analogue built by the Taganrog Radiotechnical Institute . Of interest is an electrical circuit that mimics a beam being shifted out of line during stress encountered from unwanted motion. When the foundation causes shifting of the pillars of a structure, the text explains how the degree of deflection can be calculated by using a formula relevant to electrical analogue use. This collection of articles will prove useful to structural engineers, researchers in structural mechanics, and scientists involved in dynamics and physics.
