Dadurch entstand der heutige Zustand einer weltweit zunehmenden Umweltverschmutzung, welche aktuell insbesondere durch die aufstrebenden Schwellenländer wie China und Indien, aber auch durch entwickelte Industrienationen wie Deutschland oder den USA verursacht wird. Umweltschutz spielte in den Überlegungen von Öffentlichkeit sowie Verantwortlichen in Politik und Wirtschaft eine untergeordnete Rolle. Mit zunehmendem Bewusstsein von endlichen Ressourcen und dem sich vollziehenden Klimawandel ist ein verstärktes Umweltbewusstsein gewachsen. Seitdem wird Wirtschaftswachstum zunehmend unter qualitativen Aspekten betrachtet und die Frage gestellt, wie Umweltverträglichkeit und betriebswirtschaftlich sinnvolles Wirtschaften vereinbart werden können. Politik sowie öffentliche und privatwirtschaftliche Unternehmen sind gleichermaßen in der Pflicht, Antworten und Lösungen auszuarbeiten. Vor diesem Hintergrund befasst sich folgende Arbeit mit der Thematik einer geschlossenen Kreislaufwirtschaft, die für die genannten Probleme eine Lösungsmöglichkeit bietet. Aufgezeigt werden in diesem Zusammenhang Bedeutung, Ziele und Zweck des Konzepts einer Kreislaufwirtschaft sowie Vorgehensweise und Entwicklungen auf gesetzlicher Ebene. Reflektiert wird die Thematik anhand des produzierenden Gewerbes. Die Arbeit hat zum Ziel, einen Überblick über das Gedankengut, die bisherige Entwicklung und den aktuellen Stand der Kreislaufwirtschaft zu geben. Das Aufzeigen von Perspektiven komplettiert die thematische Behandlung der Ausarbeitung.
