Practitioners in process industry have to increasingly adapt their global production networks to changes in the competitive environment. A majority of the supply network design models proposed by academia do not sufficiently capture the questions that have to be resolved. This book provides the necessary operations research decision support tools. It builds on an example of the specialty chemicals industry.

Theorists Of Economic Growth From David Hume To The Present written by W. W. Rostow and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1992-09-24 with Business & Economics categories.

This history of theories and theorists of economic growth elucidates the economic theory, economic history, and public policy observations of the renowned scholar W. W. Rostow. Looking at the economic growth theories of the classic economists up to 1870, Rostow compares Hume and Adam Smith, Malthus and Ricardo, and J.S. Mill and Karl Marx. He then examines the period 1870-1939 and its economic theorists, including Schumpeter, Colin Clark, Kuznets, and Harrod, and surveys the three forms of growth analysis in the postwar era: formal models, statistical morphology, and development theories. This authoritative overview also includes an agenda of unresolved problems in growth analysis and a description of the five major tasks statesmen will confront over the next several generations.

Mathematical Aspects Of Scheduling And Applications written by R. Bellman and has been published by Elsevier this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-05-20 with Business & Economics categories.

Mathematical Aspects of Scheduling and Applications addresses the perennial problem of optimal utilization of finite resources in the accomplishment of an assortment of tasks or objectives. The book provides ways to uncover the core of these problems, presents them in mathematical terms, and devises mathematical solutions for them. The book consists of 12 chapters. Chapter 1 deals with network problems, the shortest path problem, and applications to control theory. Chapter 2 stresses the role and use of computers based on the decision-making problems outlined in the preceding chapter. Chapter 3 classifies scheduling problems and their solution approaches. Chapters 4 to 6 discuss machine sequencing problems and techniques. Chapter 5 tackles capacity expansion problems and introduces the technique of embedded state space dynamic programming for reducing dimensionality so that larger problems can be solved. Chapter 6 then examines an important class of network problems with non-serial phase structures and exploits dimensionality reduction techniques, such as the pseudo-stage concept, branch compression, and optimal order elimination methods to solve large-scale, nonlinear network scheduling problems. Chapters 7 to 11 consider the flow-shop scheduling problem under different objectives and constraints. Chapter 12 discusses the job-shop-scheduling problem. The book will be useful to economists, planners, and graduate students in the fields of mathematics, operations research, management science, computer science, and engineering.

Optimisation In Economic Analysis written by Gordon Mills and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-04-04 with Business & Economics categories.

One of the fundamental economic problems is one of making the best use of limited resources. As a result, mathematical optimisation methods play a crucial role in economic theory. Covering the use of such methods in applied and policy contexts, this book deals not only with the main techniques (linear programming, nonlinear optimisation and dynamic programming), but also emphasizes the art of model-building and discusses fields such as optimisation over time.

Feedback written by David Andrew Kendrick and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-06 with Business & Economics categories.

In the past fifteen years a new field of research has emerged in economics: the application of control theory methods to macroeconomics and to microeconomics. The papers and books which have resulted from this research are important to the development of theoretical and applied economics. However, they are inaccessible to many with interest in economics because of the technical nature of the discussion. This book attempts to make the macro economic portion of this literature more accessible by providing a discussion of the key issues using words and figures rather than mathematical symbols. I would like to thank my mentors and colleagues in control theory and economics for their help over the years: Masanao Aoki, Michael Athans, Yaakov Bar-Shalom, Jeremy Bray, Arthur Bryson, Gregory Chow, Ray Fair, Laurie Henrikson, David Livesey, Raman Mehra, Alfred Norman, Robert Pindyck, Franklin Shupp, John Taylor, Lance Taylor, Peter Tinsley, Edison Tse, and Stephen Turnovsky.
