Sigui com sigui, per Anna Murià l’obra de Bartra és un sistema o una estructura on cada part només té el seu sentit últim integrada en el tot. També es poden percebre concomitàncies amb les teories del psicòleg suís Carl Gustav Jung i amb les teories estètiques de filiació neo-kantiana a partir d’Ernst Cassirer i, sobretot, de la pensadora nord-americana Susanne K. Langer. Aquests paral·lelismes es veuen en l’interès constant que mostra Murià per l’ús que fa Bartra dels símbols i dels mites. Escritos por Gramsci no longo período em que esteve preso nos porões da ditadura fascista italiana, os cadernos constituem uma das obras mais importantes da teoria política deste século. Esta edição brasileira dos Cadernos do cárcere foi organizada por Carlos Nelson Coutinho — reconhecido internacionalmente como um dos maiores especialistas no pensamento de Gramsci —, com a colaboração de Luiz Sérgio Henriques, ensaísta, tradutor e editor da revista eletrônica Gramsci e o Brasil, e de Marco Aurélio Nogueira, professor livre-docente da Universidade Estadual Paulista. Os 6 volumes dos Cadernos do cárcere se dividem, segundo indicações do próprio Gramsci, em "cadernos especiais" e "cadernos miscelâneos". Nos primeiros, Gramsci agrupou notas sobre temas específicos; nos segundos, reuniu apontamentos sobre assuntos diversos. Além de reproduzir os "cadernos especiais" tais como nos foram legados pelo pensador italiano, esta edição inclui as notas contidas nos "cadernos miscelâneos", relativas ao conteúdo básico de cada um dos "cadernos especiais". O volume 1 conta com introdução de Carlos Nelson Coutinho, que aborda os cadernos, suas edições italianas, a primeira edição brasileira e os critérios da presente edição. O leitor encontra também cronologia da vida de Antonio Gramsci e ensaio sobre os projetos de Gramsci. Além disso, o volume reúne o caderno 10 — que apresenta os diálogos entre Gramsci e Benedetto Croce, um dos mais importantes representantes do liberalismo italiano —, e o caderno 11, no qual, a partir de um debate com Bukharin, se desenvolve uma crítica ao economicismo e ao marxismo vulgar decorrentes da Segunda Internacional, bem como à sociologia, nascida no berço do positivismo. Renaissance sculptor Pietro Torrigiano has long held a place in the public imagination as the man who broke Michelangelo’s nose. Indeed, he is known more for that story than for his impressive prowess as an artist. This engagingly written and deeply researched study by Felipe Pereda, a leading expert in the field, teases apart legend and history and reconstructs Torrigiano’s work as an artist. Torrigiano was, in fact, one of the most fascinating characters of the sixteenth century. After fighting in the Italian wars under Cesare Borgia, the Florentine artist traveled across four countries, working for such patrons as Margaret of Austria in the Netherlands and the Tudors in England. Toriggiano later went to Spain, where he died in prison, accused of heresy by the Inquisition for breaking a sculpture of the Virgin and Child that he had made with his own hands. In the course of his travels, Torrigiano played a crucial role in the dissemination of the style and the techniques that he learned in Florence, and he interacted with local artisanal traditions and craftsmen, developing a singular terracotta modeling technique that is both a response to the authority of Michelangelo and a unique testimony to artists’ mobility in the period. As Pereda shows, Torrigiano’s life and work constitute an ideal example to rethink the geography of Renaissance art, challenging us to reconsider the model that still sees the Renaissance as expanding from an Italian center into the western periphery.
