Bacon, on Proposed Amendments to the Interstate Commerce Law If we examine the subject closely, we begin to Whether those who so fiippantly assert that the law i versally disregarded have any true comprehension of the law really is. Until this statute was enact commerce was subjected to no general rules. S and State Courts could not affect it. The Feder derive their Jurisdiction from laws passed by under the provisions of the Constitution. The law of England had developed a series of plicable to common carriers, which several states of our Union locally. The A Commerce established those principles as co of our federal jurisprudence, and gave to the courts full jurisdiction to hear and determine cau ing thereunder. This was a new jurisdiction. I to-day in full efiect. Its establishment was the le object proposed by the framers of the law. In th spect certainly the law is not nugatory.
