All dies verursacht Depressionen.

This book analyses the clinical interaction between depression and personality dysfunction to help clinicians better understand and treat patients with complex depression. It proposes an innovative perspective to clinical work that moves away from a disorder-centered approach to a person-centered approach by analysing complex depression through the lens of functional domains related to personality functioning and applying Research Domain Criteria to diagnosis and treatment planning. By doing so, it aims to contribute to the development of precision psychotherapy by applying the principles of precision medicine to mental health care. The book is divided in two parts. Chapters in the first part review problems in five domains of personality dysfunction that drive complex depressive presentations – identity, affect regulation, self-other regulation, social dysfunction and self-criticism – and the neurobiological findings underlying them. In the second part, authors present integrative models of depression and personality dysfunction and their implications for diagnosis and treatment. Depression and Personality Dysfunction: An Integrative Functional Domains Perspective is a scientific and clinical guide for the understanding and treatment of patients with depression complicated by personality dysfunction. It will be a useful tool for clinicians looking for resources to develop a more person-centered and evidence-based approach to mental health care.

Essay from the year 2018 in the subject Psychology - Clinic and Health Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, grade: 7,6, Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen (Department of Psychology), course: Evolutionary Foundations of Human Behavior, language: English, abstract: This essay focuses on depressive feelings and on burnout. This was an essay where we had to explain psychological issues or themes from an evolutionary perspective. I explain in this paper why it is important to sometimes accept feelings of depression, it may help curb the development of clinical depression. Generally, it is assumed in evolutionary psychology that traits which are adaptive will be selected by natural selection to be passed over to the next generation. Despite its terrible effect, I will argue that depression might be adaptive. More specifically, I will argue that we benefit from a mechanism which is of importance to us, but makes us depressive when we attend to it in a wrong way. Also, I will provide a solution to our depression problem. That excruciating feeling after a few rough, stressful weeks of feeling extremely tired. You might not want too much social interactions anymore. You feel emotionally numb, while also feeling unstable. You start thinking negatively about otherwise normal events or people, also even about yourself. Sounds familiar? Everybody has experienced an episode in their life where one felt down. This can happen after the loss of a loved one, a disappointment concerning regarding a promotion you didn’t get, the list goes on. It is a mere emotional response to some event in one’s life, you can say. You come across a lot of semi-philosophical, existential answers if you google as to why people experience down-episodes in their lives.

Understanding and treating depression, with its usually complex disturbance pattern, plays a central role in C.G. Jung=s analytical psychology. This book is intended as a guide to the theory and practice of Jungian psychotherapy and psychoanalysis for depressive disorders. Special emphasis is given to flexibility and to the concepts of transference and countertransference in treatment, in order to do justice to the uniqueness of the encounter with depressed people. The explanations are illustrated with numerous case examples from adult psychotherapy.
