Nach Papousek (1995, S.2) gibt es besonders für das Säuglingsalter wenig umfassende Forschung über die günstige Mutter-Kind-Beziehung, bzw. über die Ursachen von Störungen. Auch die Entwicklungspsychopathologie hat hierzu bisher wenig beigetragen, was nicht zuletzt auf die schwierigen methodischen Anforderungen zurückzuführen ist. Um so interessanter ist es für uns, eine Studie in dieser relativ neuen Forschungsrichtung durchzuführen und dabei einen direkten Bezug zur Praxis herstellen zu können. Die Psychopathologien von Neugeborenen und Kleinkindern manifestieren sich beim Kind als Fütter- oder Schlafstörungen, Bindungsstörungen oder frühe Verhaltensstörungen wie zum Beispiel das überdurchschnittliche Schreien. Die genannten Störungen treten im Rahmen der Interaktion mit der Bezugsperson auf. Das bedeutet jedoch nicht, daß die Interaktion die Ursache für derartige Störungen sein muß (Brisch, 1999; Stern, 1995, S.79). Die frühen Verhaltensauffälligkeiten weisen noch zahlreiche Fragen auf. Besonders im Bereich der therapeutischen Behandlung und Krisenintervention werden neue Methoden entstehen bzw. bereits vorhandene Ansätze modifiziert werden. Nicht das Baby allein oder die Eltern werden hier zum Klienten in der Therapie, sondern die Eltern-Kind-Interaktion, das heißt das gesamte Spektrum an Kommunikation und Interaktion, wird betrachtet. In der vorliegenden Studie stellen wir zunächst die Grundlagen zum Thema Schreibaby dar. Das exzessive Schreien von Säuglingen und Kleinkindern wird nicht nur in Fachkreisen zunehmend erforscht, sondern erlangt auch im allgemeinen Bewußtsein von Eltern und Laien eine größere Bedeutung. Aufgrund dieses wachsenden Interesses erschien es uns wichtig, eine psychotherapeutische Einrichtung zur Behandlung von Schreibabys auf ihre Wirksamkeit hin zu untersuchen. Es handelt sich hierbei um die „Schreibabyambulanz“ des Nachbarschafts- und Selbsthilfezentrums der Ufa-Fabrik in Berlin. Die "Schreibabyambulanz" bietet Eltern, deren Kleinkinder an einem Schreibabysyndrom, ersten psychosomatischen Symptomen oder sehr starken Unruhezuständen leiden, eine Krisenintervention an. Diese umfaßt höchstens 10 Sitzungen. Neben der direkten Auseinandersetzung mit den bis zu zwei Jahre alten Kleinkindern gehört hierzu auch Hilfe und Unterstützung der betroffenen Eltern.
