Die Grundlagen der psychiatrisch-psychotherapeutischen Krisenintervention sollte jeder Therapeut beherrschen. Eine effektive Krisenintervention stellt jedoch höchste Anforderungen an das Können des Therapeuten. Das Buch vermittelt einen praxisorientierten Leitfaden für den Umgang mit Menschen in Krisen, für das Krisenassessment und die Krisenintervention. Obwohl in der Krise vergleichsweise wenig Zeit bleibt, kommt einem guten Krisenassessment eine große Bedeutung zu, denn nur auf der Basis einer soliden Einschätzung der Ursachen, Einflussfaktoren, der Art und Schwere der Krise, aber auch der äußeren und inneren Ressourcen des Patienten inklusive seiner Bewältigungsstrategien können effiziente Interventionen erfolgen. Spezifische Lebenssituationen, Geschlecht, Alter und kultureller Hintergrund des Patienten sind ebenso zu berücksichtigen wie eine bestehende psychische Störung, eine gleichzeitige körperliche Erkrankung oder der spezifische Auslöser der Krise. Je nach im Vordergrund stehender Problematik, Vorgeschichte und Ressourcen des Patienten können spezifische psychotherapeutische Techniken indiziert sein, oft verbunden mit sozialarbeiterischen und anderen Hilfen. Schließlich spielt auch das Setting, z.B. ambulant, in einem Kriseninterventionszentrum, stationär-psychiatrisch oder konsiliarisch im Allgemeinkrankenhaus – für die Krisenintervention eine wichtige Rolle. Das Buch liefert einen umfassenden und praxisnahen Überblick zu den verschiedenen Aspekten der psychiatrisch-psychotherapeutischen Krisenintervention
