The public accounts contain the General Revenue Fund financial statements and the summary financial statements. All public money is paid into the General Revenue Fund except where the Legislative Assembly has directed otherwise. In the past the General Revenue Fund was called the Consolidated Fund. The summary statements consolidate the financial transactions of the Fund, Crown corporations, agencies, boards and commissions, providing a full accounting of the financial affairs and resources of all entities for which the Government is responsible. Volume 1 also contains information on public issue debentures, and on assets, liabilities, and residual balances of superannuation, trust and special purpose funds. Volume 2 contains details on the revenues and expenses of the Fund and listings of remissions of taxes and fees.

The Public Accounts are prepared by statutory requirement, in accordance with the Financial Administration Act. It consists of four volumes, two of which are part of this document. Volume 1 contains the financial statements of the Operating Fund and Special Funds of the Province and schedules of supporting information; the details of financial statements; the details of borrowings and guarantees; the details of Operating Fund revenue and expenditure; as well as information provided under Statutory Requirement. Research in Accounting Regulation is a refereed annual serial that seeks to publish high quality manuscripts, which address regulatory issues and policy affecting the practice of accountancy, broadly defined. Topics of interest include research based upon: self-regulatory activities, case law and litigation, government and quasi-governmental regulation, and the economics of regulation, including modeling. The serial aims to encourage the submission of original empirical, behavioral or applied research manuscripts that consider strategic and policy implications for regulation, regulatory models and markets.
