In this stimulating, thought-provoking guide, a noted sculptor and teacher demonstrates how to discover a rich new design source in the abstractions inherent in natural forms. Through systematic study of such properties as line, form, shape, mass, pattern, light and dark, space, proportion, scale, perspective, and color as they appear in nature, students can learn to utilize the infinite variety and diversity of those elements as a wellspring of creative abstraction. The author invites students to learn the necessary techniques through a series of projects devoted to exploring and drawing plants, animals, birds, landscapes, seascapes, skies, and more. Lines of growth and structure, water and liquid forms, weather and atmospheric patterns, luminosity in plants and animals, earth colors and lightning are among the sources of abstraction available to the artist who is aware of them. This book will train you to see and use these elements and many more. An intriguing blend of art, psychology, and the natural sciences, Abstraction in Art and Nature is profusely illustrated with over 370 photographs, scientific illustrations, diagrams, and reproductions of works by the great masters. It not only offers a mind-stretching new way of learning and teaching basic design, but deepens our awareness of the natural environment. In short, Mr. Hale's book is an indispensable guide that artists, teachers, and students will want to have close at hand for instruction, inspiration, and practical guidance.

Aesthetics And Nature written by Glenn Parsons and has been published by Bloomsbury Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008-09-07 with Philosophy categories.

Aesthetics and Nature offers a clear and accessible introduction to the field of nature aesthetics. Glenn Parsons explores the current debates in the field, providing the reader with a thorough overview of the subject. The book situates nature aesthetics in relation to two principal influences: aesthetics' traditional project of understanding the value of art and current thought on the ethics of our relationship with nature. The book outlines five major approaches to understanding the aesthetic value of nature and explores the aesthetic appreciation of nature as it occurs in wilderness, in gardens, and in the context of appreciating environmental art. The book also includes a study of the idea that conserving nature's beauty provides a compelling reason to preserve wilderness. This highly topical idea has deep implications for the importance of aesthetic value in our relationship to nature, and for the fate of nature itself. Combining a clear and engaging style with a sophisticated treatment of a fascinating subject, Aesthetics and Nature is a valuable contribution to contemporary aesthetics.

Art Of Nature written by Heinrich Van Den Berg and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-08-25 with Nature photography categories.

This is a book that reveals a syncretic relationship between Art and Nature that elicits spontaneous and emotional reaction in the reader's mind. The photographs illustrate art: animal behaviour becomes a visual element, natural science the page upon which art is drawn. Here Reality defers to Beauty and Emotion. Heinrich's succinct texts reach beyond the photographs. They complement, query and even insult the images. The words are not there to fondle the images, but rather to dare the viewer to look beyond the obvious...to discover the pure art that lies at the heart of all. The owner of this book will hold a key to something beyond extraordinary animal behavoiur or powerful, unique scenery. It will open the human heart to a natural universe where nothing matters but the sheer beauty of nature itself. In direct contrast to the conventional visual appraisals of nature, this book peels back the layers found in the natural environment by placing nature in the realm of pure art.
