Excerpt from The Quest for Wonder and Other Philosophical and Theological Studies After about sixteen years in the pastor ate the author of these studies finds himself entering upon the work of a theological professor. He has published much in the periodicals of his church and in book form during this time, and those interested are not unfamiliar with his general position on philosophical and theological matters. The volume, The Theology of a Preacher, in particular sets forth in an informal and untechnical way his attitude toward the significant matters in the realm of Christian doctrine. All Is Mind is one of the rarest books, attempting to unfold mysteries of human mind and of the universe. It deeply looks into new, delighting, and intellect-blasting Skolimowskian philosophy of the participatory mind, which truly represents the crux of evolution, the climax of evolution, the absolute beauty of evolution, the soul of evolution, and the true spirit that evolution seems striving to instil into human beings for the perfection of their own evolution, and for the deep and real purpose of evolution itself. Presenting the most extraordinary aspect of lifethe human mindthe book extraordinarily explains how the mind conceives, processes, chisels, shapes, and reshapes everything and every phenomenon it encounters; how it creates reality; how it attempts to explore everything out there; how, through its outreach tentacles, it creates a sphere of its ownthe noosphere; how it goes on extending the limits of the noosphere; and many more thoughts, concepts, theories, and philosophies encompassing the all-creative, wonderful, and not yet fully understood mind. The mind in the book emerges as an epic of the evolution itself. The book attempts to transcend all previous theories of evolution, and it reveals how the mind can help us reach the stars.

Philosophy S Moods The Affective Grounds Of Thinking written by Hagi Kenaan and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-08-13 with Philosophy categories.

Philosophy's Moods is a collection of original essays interrogating the inseparable bond between mood and philosophical thinking. What is the relationship between mood and thinking in philosophy? In what sense are we always already philosophizing from within a mood? What kinds of mood are central for shaping the space of philosophy? What is the philosophical imprint of Aristotle’s wonder, Kant’s melancholy, Kierkegaard’s anxiety or Nietzsche's shamelessness? Philosophy's Moods invites its readers to explore the above questions through diverse methodological perspectives. The collection includes twenty-one contributions by internationally renowned scholars as well as younger and emerging voices. In pondering the place of the subjective and personal roots that thinking is typically called to overcome, the book challenges and articulates an alternative to a predominant tendency in philosophy to view the theoretical content and the affective side of thought as opposed to one another.

Philosophy Begins In Wonder written by Michael Funk Deckard and has been published by Wipf and Stock Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-01-01 with Religion categories.

Philosophy begins with wonder, according to Plato and Aristotle. Yet Plato and Aristotle did not expand a great deal on what precisely wonder is. Does this fact alone not raise curiosity in us as to why this passion or concept is important? What is wonder's role in science, philosophy, or theology except to end thinking or theorizing as soon as one begins? The primary purpose of this book is to show how seventeenth-and eighteenth-century developments in natural theology, metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, aesthetics, and the philosophy of science resulted in a complex history of the passion of wonder-a history in which the elements of continuation, criticism, and reformulation are equally present. Philosophy Begins in Wonder provides the first historical overview of wonder and changes the way we see early modern Europe. It is intended for readers who are curious-who wonder-about how modern philosophy and science were born. The book is for scholars and educated readers alike. "Some very famous scholars have claimed that in the Enlightenment and Scientific worldview there is no place for wonder. Michael Funk Deckard and Peter Losonczi are to be congratulated for assembling such a fine, focused collection that, among its many virtues, dispels the myth of the disappearance of wonder at the dawn of Modernity. Plato and Aristotle agreed that philosophy begins in wonder, but famously disagreed about where it ends. Plato would not be surprised that even in knowing ages, wonder can be truth's consequence." ERIC SCHLIESSER, Leiden University "This rich and provocative collection of essays could bear fruit in a dozen or more books, each of them already here in gist. May it be so." JOHN WILSON, Editor, Books & Culture "(This is) an illuminating collection of essays which traces the religious, scientific, and philosophical history of wonder, and which will be a much-needed and long-awaited aid to all those interested in exploring this important yet understudied topic." SOPHIA VASALOU, European College of Liberal Arts in Berlin

The Analysis Of Wonder written by Predrag Cicovacki and has been published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-01-30 with Philosophy categories.

Structured to introduce the reader into all aspects of the philosophy of Nicolai Hartmann (1882-1950), this book aims to stimulate further interest into his thought. Once considered the most studious and systematic of all the German philosophers of the twentieth-century, this prolific author has been nearly forgotten. For many years a student and an admirer of Hartmann's work, Cicovacki argues that a closer look into Hartmann's ontologically and axiologically oriented philosophy contains a promise of a vital philosophical orientation, especially with regard to our understanding of the nature, place, and role of humanity in the larger world. "The Analysis of Wonder" - Hartmann's own definition of philosophy - is an invitation to the readers to challenge their preconceived and self-interested notions of reality in order to relearn to appreciate the always changing and conflicting world, in all of its complexity, richness, and sublimity.

Spectacles Of Truth In Classical Greek Philosophy written by Andrea Wilson Nightingale and has been published by Cambridge University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2004-08-12 with Philosophy categories.

In fourth-century Greece (BCE), the debate over the nature of philosophy generated a novel claim: that the highest form of wisdom is theoria, the rational 'vision' of metaphysical truths (the 'spectator theory of knowledge'). This 2004 book offers an original analysis of the construction of 'theoretical' philosophy in fourth-century Greece. In the effort to conceptualise and legitimise theoretical philosophy, the philosophers turned to a venerable cultural practice: theoria (state pilgrimage). In this practice, an individual journeyed abroad as an official witness of sacralized spectacles. This book examines the philosophic appropriation and transformation of theoria, and analyses the competing conceptions of theoretical wisdom in fourth-century philosophy. By tracing the link between traditional and philosophic theoria, this book locates the creation of theoretical philosophy in its historical context, analysing theoria as a cultural and an intellectual practice. It develops a new, interdisciplinary approach, drawing on philosophy, history and literary studies.
