Dieser Tagungsband ist ein Ergebnis der ersten Konferenz des Netzwerks Hochschulforschung Österreich. Er betrachtet Hochschulforschung aus drei unterschiedlichen Perspektiven, die durch eine konstruktivistisch geprägte Ansicht der Auseinandersetzung mit komplexen Systemen geleitet werden. Bei der systemischen Perspektive geht es um Forschungsarbeiten, die das gesamte Hochschulsystem, die Beziehung zwischen Politik und Hochschulen oder den Hochschulen untereinander thematisieren. Bei der institutionellen Perspektive steht die Forschung über innerhochschulische Konzepte, u.a. zur Governance, Forschung, Lehre und Third Mission, im Fokus. Beiträge zur akteurzentrierten Perspektive beziehen sich zum Beispiel auf Studierende, AbsolventInnen, Lehrende oder administratives / nicht wissenschaftliches Personal oder auf externe AkteurInnen (wie z.B. Unternehmen) und deren Relation mit einzelnen Hochschulen. Das Netzwerk Hochschulforschung Österreich (www.hofo.at) umfasst in Österreich tätige Hochschulforschende und versteht sich als eine interdisziplinär und offen ausgerichtete Institution für alle, die - nicht notwendigerweise ausschließlich, aber regelmäßig - zu Hochschulthemen forschen. Dabei geht das Forschungsinteresse über die Analyse der eigenen Institution hinaus - z.B. durch Reflexion und Interpretation. Ziele sind die Vernetzung von Personen und Institutionen sowie die Sichtbarkeit und den Nutzen von Hochschulforschung in Österreich zu steigern. Das Netzwerk ermöglicht einen wissenschaftlichen und praxisgeleiteten Diskurs, u.a. durch regelmäßige Tagungen, Stellungnahmen und Veranstaltungen.

Academic education plays an important role in the development of professionalism of adult educators. Given the interconnectedness of adult education with global and international developments, this international and comparative study illustrates the need for a systematic and comprehensive internationalisation of adult education programmes and the relevance of international teaching and learning settings for the development of professionalism in adult education. Based on focus group and graduate interviews of three master’s programmes with a focus on adult education at the Universities of Würzburg, Belgrade and Florence, similarities and differences in the internationalisation of the programmes are revealed and supporting factors for the development of professionalism are highlighted.

Romania hosts the 2012 Bologna / European Higher Education Area Ministerial Conference and the Third Bologna Policy Forum. In preparation for these meetings, The Executive Agency for Higher Education, Research, Development and Innovation Funding (UEFISCDI) organised the Future of Higher Education - Bologna Process Researchers’ Conference (FOHE-BPRC) in Bucharest on 17-19 October 2011, with the support of the European University Association (EUA) and the Romanian National Committee for UNESCO. The conference brought the voices of researchers into international-level policy making in higher education. The results of the conference are presented in this book. Until now, empirical evidence supporting policies and reforms in higher education has often been a matter of local or regional focus. How can teacher education prepare future teachers for their work in increasingly diverse classrooms? How does the concept of plurilingualism inform language educational policy in different countries? What are the current opportunities and challenges in the domain of internationalisation in teacher education? The contributions to this volume address these questions from different theoretical perspectives, and with a strong emphasis on the actual practices in various classrooms. At a time when simplistic, essentialist, biased, and discriminatory ideologies and practices see a rebirth in public discourse, and represent a risk to education, the contributors here take stock and describe some worthwhile alternatives. This publication is the result of an international and interdisciplinary expert meeting at Technische Universität Berlin, in March 2020. The aim of the expert meeting was to collaboratively write and publish a book, within five days, on the central question: Which organizational structures and processes at universities support a strategic as well as innovative campus development? As experts with an interdisciplinary background including the social sciences, public real estate, urban planning, architecture and landscape architecture, we could examine the question from a holistic perspective and gain new insights.
