A Statistical Study of the Age of Horses-Older Horses or Younger Horses, which fare the best? Do older horses tend to run better than younger horses or vice versa. Is there is any relevance to the age of horses when looking through a race card. Race analysts will often comment on the age of the horse, "probably past its best" or "an in-experienced horse" sometimes for the younger horses. In this book I have tried to see if there is any merit in it. Over a period of time 1731 races were analyzed. Taking the three oldest and the three youngest horses in each race and the results analyzed as well as any profit. The results are divided into handicaps, non handicaps, jumps, flat, all weather etc and numbers of runners; 4-7 runners, 8-11 runners, 12-15 runners and 16+ runners. The book contains tables of win and place percentages for each type of race and profits gained or lost. The book does not contain a betting system or any guarantee of profits to be made; just the results of the analyses in tables.

The first quarter of the 20th century was a time of dramatic change in auto racing, marked by the move from the horseless carriage to the supercharged Grand Prix racer, from the gentleman driver to the well-publicized professional, and from the dusty road course to the autodrome. This history of the evolution of European and American auto racing from 1900 to 1925 examines transatlantic influences, early dirt track racing, and the birth of the twin-cam engine and the straight-eight. It also explores the origins of the Bennett and Vanderbilt races, the early career of "America's Speed King" Barney Oldfield, the rise of the speedway specials from Marmon, Mercer, Stutz and Duesenberg, and developments from Peugeot, Delage, Ballot, Fiat, and Bugatti. This informative work provides welcome insight into a defining period in motorsports.

The story of the 1957 Pescara Grand Prix - the last race of the heroic age of motor racing There has been much talk of how Grand Prix motor racing has become rather dull with big name, big brand winners ousting out all competition. But it wasn't always so. Once a romantic sport, motor sport produced heros whose where individual skill and daring were paramount. The 1957 Pescara Grand Prix marked the end of an era in motor racing. Sixteen cars and drivers raced over public roads on the Adriatic coast in a three-hour race of frightening speed and constant danger. Stirling Moss won the race, beating the great Juan Manuel Fangio (in his final full season) and ending years of supremacy by the Italian teams of Ferrari and Maserati. Richard Williams brings this pivotal race back to life, reminding us of how far the sport has changed in the intervening fifty years. The narrative includes testaments from the four surviving drivers who competed - Stirling Moss, Tony Brooks, Roy Salvadori and Jack Brabham.
