Fin dalla prima edizione ARSIA, Ragione Toscana e Compagnia delle Foreste hanno puntato a coinvolgere gli attori del settore forestale nella costruzione del Rapporto, chiedendo ad ognuno di fornire dati attendibili e informazioni sulle attività svolte nell’ambito di ciascuna tematica. Per il RaFT 2008 sono stati coinvolti 120 soggetti selezionati tra ricercatori, docenti universitari, liberi professionisti, imprenditori, associazioni di categoria, cooperative forestali, tecnici e dirigenti degli Enti pubblici (Regione, Province e Comuni) e territoriali (Comunità Montane e Unioni dei Comuni) oltre a quelli del Corpo Forestale dello Stato e dei Vigili del Fuoco. I soggetti coinvolti hanno lavorato, organizzati in 9 gruppi tematici, con lo scopo di assicurare un quadro il più possibile completo ed esaustivo sullo stato del settore forestale regionale.

This report contains the scientific results of the research project co-funded by Regione Toscana entitled "La multifunzionalità dell'agricoltura nelle zone montane marginali: una valutazione qualitativa, quantitativa e monetaria degli impatti ambientali, economici e sociali". The project involved various partners, whose skills enabled the activity to take an integrated, multi-disciplinary bent; the University of Florence Department of Farming and Forestry Economics, Engineering, Science and Technology - DEISTAF - took responsibility for the scientific side, while the local partners counted the municipality of San Godenzo, L'Unione dei Comuni della Montagna Fiorentina and the Consorzio Marrone del Mugello IGP. The general aim of the whole research project was to prepare guidelines for the endogenous and sustainable development of outlying areas, while extending knowledge of a fundamental aspect of farming, the primary activity, namely its multiple functions.

She chooses to translate the Italian concept of immaginario with the Latin imago that felicitously blends the double English translation of the word as "imagery" and "imaginary." Imago is a complex knot of collective representations of the immigrant subject, a mental production that finds concrete expression; impalpable, yet real.
