Issued discussed during the Committee's 6th session include: the work of its subcommittees during the inter-sessional period, research activities undertaken, advice on fishery management and research, and the workplan for 2003-2004. The Committee called on the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean to encourage the adoption of measures regarding the fishing of selected small pelagic and demersal recruitment stocks at levels compatible with sustainable exploitation. It also requested that the Commission reinforce the implementation of the measures to help reverse declining biomass of a number of important stocks.

Ce rapport résume les discussions tenues au cours de la quarante-quatrième session de la Commission générale des pêches pour la Méditerranée (CGPM) et de la onzième session du Comité de l’administration et des finances. Au cours de la session, les progrès accomplis dans les activités en matière de pêche, d’aquaculture, de conformité et dans d’autres domaines stratégiques ont été examinés. La Commission a adopté 21 recommandations contraignantes et 14 résolutions portant sur la gestion et la conservation des pêches, de l'aquaculture, de la conformité, la surveillance des navires et la lutte contre la pêche illicite, non déclarée et non réglementée ainsi que la Stratégie 2030 de la CGPM pour une pêche et une aquaculture durables en Méditerranée et mer Noire. En outre, la Commission a examiné les questions liées à son fonctionnement et au mandat du Secrétaire exécutif de la CGPM. Enfin, la Commission a adopté son programme de travail pour la prochaine période intersessions et a approuvé son budget autonome pour 2022 ainsi qu'un certain nombre d'actions stratégiques qui seront financées au moyen de ressources extrabudgétaires. La Commission a également renouvelé le Bureau de la CGPM ainsi que les mandats des bureaux du Comité scientifique consultatif des pêches, du Comité scientifique consultatif de l'aquaculture et du Groupe de travail sur la mer Noire, et a approuvé les nouveaux bureaux du Comité d’application et du Comité de l'administration et des finances.
