Raymond Lafage qui considérait que "dessiner est une fonction naturelle", est un dessinateur et graveur du XVIe siècle, souvent méconnu quoique beaucoup copié, et mort à l'âge de vingt-huit ans. Probablement né en 1656 à Lisle-sur-Tarn en Languedoc, Lafage est ensuite passé par Montauban, Toulouse, Paris - où il obtient une pension du Roi pour partir à Rome où son talent sera récompensé - et est mort à Lyon. Il convenait de rendre hommage à la qualité de son œuvre, tel est l'objet de ce livre.
