Real Talk for Real Teens #Communicate is an innovative resource for adults seeking to connect with young people. The 60 illustrations (created by Alice Burroughs) and scenarios in this book are meant to inspire conversation, encourage connection, and empower adults with the skills they need to really reach young people. The original scenarios range from situations faced by elementary school aged children (suggested ages 7-13), through areas affecting middle school aged young people (suggested ages 12-15), ending with issues of note to high school young people and college young adults (suggested ages 14-18+). Each illustration is accompanied by a Reflection Page containing researched background on the topic, suggested Take Home Messages, possible Discussion Questions, and a role play. Adults are instructed to begin by asking the young person to "Tell a Story about the Picture." Guidelines for respectful, open-ended communication are easily established. Resource Pages, including the research behind each topic, are included, and a Glossary helps with unfamiliar terms. Dr. Mary Jo Podgurski has used these scenarios in education and counselling for more than 30 years (many of the original illustrations are updated). The scenarios are cutting edge and contemporary. They range from basic topics (for example, selecting healthy food choices and bullying) to complex/potentially controversial topics (like sexuality education, racism, and cultural appropriation). Each illustration is accompanied by a QR Code for duplication. Those who purchase the book will be able to duplicate the images for educational purposes; using the copies for profit is not permitted. Adults using this book can open doors to communication and develop the skills needed to truly reach young people.

"Girl We Need to Talk" is a real down to earth book in conversational style dedicated to speaking to the issues of teenage girls. My goal is to reach the younger generation, teaching them to love, and value themselves, as well as to avoid many of the pitfalls most teenagers in previous generations have fallen into. This book is not only for teenage girls, but for the teenage girl inside of so many broken women, whom have yet to overcome the issues of their youth. Many women today still possess the mentality of young girls, because they were never taught the principles that are accessible in this book. Many women like myself, did not know their worth, did not have their identity instilled in them, and was never taught how to be successful in life through simple principles. Unfortunately, many of the women in previous generations were never taught, and did not have the knowledge needed to pass on to their children. Therefore, the negative cycle continues today in many families. Nevertheless, it is never too late for change, and if you are ready to make a commitment to change, and ready to experience the greatness that lies within you, read this book, apply its principles and I guarantee you, that before long, you will see an ENTIRELY NEW YOU. The wealth of knowledge found within the pages of this book, was designed to change mindsets, develop character, build self-esteem, and encourage greatness. I believe strongly in the principles in this book and the change that will transpire in the lives of these teenage girls as they discover themselves, use the tools, and apply the principles to their lives. Change is inevitable and greatness will be achieved! With Love and Compassion, -Shameka Bonner
