HENLEY PUBLISHING CO. 132 NASSAU STREET 1911 PREFACE The hot and cold shaping, squeezing, forming, and bend- ing of duplicate metal parts and high-speed steel cutting tools by forging in drop-dies, drop-hammers, steam-ham- mers, hydraulic presses, and forging-machines, are becoming more appreciated by the most advanced manufacturers and mechanics but, until the publication of this work, to the average mechanic familiarity with the advanced shop prac- tise, tools, and processes has beendenied, because of the almost total lack of descriptive practical literature, and also the conservatism of manufacturers and experts in publishing their shop-practise and knowledge evolution. Therefore, to make possible among mechanics a broad and comprehensive knowledge of these arts I present this book, hoping it will find a valuable and permanent place in its field. BROOKLYN, N. The Development Of Gas Turbine Materials written by G.W. Meetham and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-06 with Technology & Engineering categories.

The turbine has many advantages over other prime movers for producing power. The first turbine used water as the working fluid and this principle is still used in hydro-electric power generation. The steam turbine was developed late in the nineteenth century and was first applied to marine propulsion by Parsons in 1897. Since that time it has become the most widely used prime mover in electricity generation and marine propulsion. The equipment required to generate steam is bulky however and it was realised that much more compact power plant could be designed if the hot gases used for steam generation could drive the turbine directly. Early attempts to produce gas turbines were unsuccessful for several reasons, one major problem being that materials with the capability of operating at sufficiently high stresses and temperatures were not available. Following the first experimental Whittle engine in 1937, the emphasis on the development of the gas turbine engine for aircraft propulsion during World War II changed this situation dramatically. Gas turbine powered civil aircraft entered airline service in the early 1950s and gas turbines also began to compete successfully in other fields. Apart from the aircraft market, they have been used widely in pumping sets for oil and gas transmission pipelines and peak load electricity generation. Use in warship propulsion is increasing and there is currently major activity, in the USA in particular, in developments for vehicular propulsion.

Precision Forging Technology And Equipment For Aluminum Alloy written by Lei Deng and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-04-18 with Technology & Engineering categories.

This book takes the advanced precision forging technology of aluminum alloy parts as the main line, presents the content of precision forging process analysis, process parameter design, mold structure design, numerical simulation of forming process, and process test, combined with a large number of application examples classified according to the structural characteristics of parts. It introduces the theoretical basis of several new technologies and new equipment for precision forging, including the small flash precision forging technology, flow control forming technology, casting and forging combined forming technology, and new CNC precision forging hydraulic presses and servo hydraulic presses, which inspire readers to innovate on new technology and new equipment development. This book provides readers with the latest knowledge of aluminum alloy precision forging, which is of great reference value in the context of the current increasing attention to lightweight and the increasing application of aluminum alloy parts in automotive, aerospace, marine, and other fields. This book can be used as a reference book for engineering and technical personnel engaged in aluminum alloy forging technology and can also be used as a reference book for researchers, undergraduates, and graduate students interested in materials processing.

Advances In Machine Tool Design And Research 1969 written by S. A. Tobias and has been published by Elsevier this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-12-04 with Technology & Engineering categories.

Advances in Machine Tool Design and Research 1969 focuses on the processes, methodologies, and techniques in the design of machine tools. The book contains the proceedings of the 10th International M.T.D.R. Conference held at the University of Manchester in September 1969. The selection first discusses examples and problems in the implementation of modern design features on large machine tools and development of numerically controlled conventional turning machines. The book reviews the theory and practice of fluid dampers in machine tools, including eccentricity of cylindrical film dampers, border effect, and vapor and gas pressure. The text also discusses tool life vibrations of grinding wheels as a function of vibration amplitude; thermal deformations of gear-cutting machines; thermal behavior of machine tools; and the effects of thermal deformation on the cylindrical accuracy in grinding process. The book also takes a look at the trends in manufacturing systems concepts and technical criteria to be used when purchasing machine tools. The selection is a dependable reference for readers interested in machine tool design.
