A practical guide that picks up where “rehab” leaves off, and where the real work of recovery from substance abuse begins. Many of those who suffer the consequences of substance (along with their loved ones) may find relief when the substance abuser agrees to enter rehab or treatment. Too many, however, have also known the pain and disappointment that comes later, with relapse. This book provides a practical guide for both the newly sober and their loved ones for what they can do collaboratively to ensure that what begins with rehab translates into long-term recovery and a more satisfying life-style for all.

My handwriting is not the only thing that suffered in the throes of my addiction, but it was a physical indication and a perfect metaphor of what my life was like. It was extremely messy and impossible to read. Impulse control was gone, and insanity had consumed my soul. The poems in this book outline the progression of one addicts recovery throughout the rehabilitation process emotionally, physically, and spiritually. My hope is that any addict or alcoholic will know that recovery is possible. There is hope for a better life.

Rehab Is Not For The Soul written by Gary Bentley and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-08-01 with Alcoholism categories.

"Any attempt to 'rehabilitate' someone without the saving power of God is only a temporary fix." In Rehab Is Not for the Soul: A Journey Out of Addiction, Gary Bentley makes a poignant and highly personal case that recovery from drug and alcohol addiction is possible only through spiritual surrender to God. Gary Bentley was an alcoholic at age 16 and was jailed many times over the next 18 years for fraud and drug-related crimes. He saw his work and home life fall apart as a result of his addictions, and he tried secular rehab programs in always-futile attempts to "come to his senses," as the prodigal son did in Luke 15:17. Yet as he shows, "rehab" only means to restore oneself to an earlier condition-and what the addict needs is a spiritual heart transplant. If you or someone you love is suffering from addiction, Gary reaches out to you with his example of success. Thanks to a spiritual awakening and the yearlong, free recovery program offered by the worldwide Christian program, Teen Challenge, he shows how biblical principles, wise family support, and faith can create total transformation. BIO: Gary Bentley came into the Teen Challenge program in 1997 after 18 years of substance abuse and four secular rehabilitation centers. After losing everything because of his addictions, he was homeless on the streets of New Orleans. Today he is a husband, father of one, and grandfather of two. Gary serves as the COO of Louisiana Teen Challenge and also helps train leaders for Teen Challenge in Russia.

The ultimate ‘what you need to know’ guide for navigating the confusing world of addiction treatment, insurance coverage, and recovery. Imagine you are awakened by a call at 3 a.m., informing you that your loved one is in crisis due to addiction or mental illness. Maybe he or she has been incarcerated, hospitalized, or left for dead from an overdose. Who would you turn to and what would you do next? Walter Wolf got that very call when his own family member was in crisis . There was no playbook, but Walter knew who to call — a friend in the treatment world who knew exactly what to do. Who protects the uninitiated terrified to the point of doing anything they're told to save their loved one? Wolf knew something had to change. Families hit by addiction like Wolf’s needed a “how-to” book on finding the right treatment at the right rehab. Since that book didn’t exist, he wrote it himself. From intervention to recovery, The Right Rehab is a step-by-step guide that details how to identify and access treatment options available to all individuals and families, no matter how plentiful or spare their resources. Due to Walter's relationships with the most ethical and renowned professionals in the treatment world, he is able to explain the treatment plan principled experts insist is the most evidence-based, dependable, and customizable for the individual who is fully committed to sobriety. The Right Rehab is for the millions of vulnerable, terrified and uninitiated families who need to know what to do first, next, and into the future, while protecting them from programs that don’t work. Below are some reviews from readers of the original printing in 2012. The One Dollar Rehab is engaging, entertaining, and to the point. This book "nails it," and demystifies the "how to" of working the program of recovery. Written in a no nonsense style that will appeal to newcomers and old timers alike, it is a "Home Run" of a book. I found it compelling and thought provoking. As one who has worked for more than 35 years professionally in the Alcoholism / Drug Addiction field as a Substance Abuse Counselor, Evaluator and Educator, I am very familiar with 12 step programs. DJ Allen masterfully but simply describes how anyone can achieve success on their personal journey to recovery. This book is sure to help all who read it and apply its message. Dick Mihalko drug and alcohol abuse counselor. The One Dollar Rehab is an enjoyable example of what successful 12 step recovery can be. DJ Allen displays a sense of humor that is greatly appreciated and rarely found in a book of this type. I laughed out loud and fought back emotions as I related to story after story. I liked it so much, I read it twice. Susan W. 20 years clean, 15 years drug and alcohol abuse counselor. The One Dollar Rehab forced me to look at 12 step recovery from a different view point. You might say this book caused me to have a "Cognitive Inversion" of my own. Thanks DJ I really enjoyed it. PS. I loved the quotes Johnny I. 26 years clean & sober Author Description: DJ and his wife Denise have been married 30 years and have raised their four children in Florida. Retired from a career in construction equipment sales, they now spend their winters in the Caribbean aboard their 38' sailing ketch.

Inside Rehab written by Anne M. Fletcher and has been published by Penguin this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-02-07 with Psychology categories.

An eye-opening tour of the addiction treatment industry explores the gap between what should happen and what does What happens inside drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers and how rehab works are a mystery to those outside the industry – and sometimes even to those inside it. Anne M. Fletcher is a trusted New York Times bestselling health and medical writer who visited 15 addiction treatment centers—from outpatient programs for the indigent to famous celebrity rehabs; from the sites of renowned Twelve-Step centers to several unconventional programs—to find out what really happens. What she reveals ranges from inspirational to irresponsible, and, in some cases, potentially dangerous. Real Stories: As always with her books, Fletcher gets the inside story by turning to real people who “have been there,” interviewing more than 100 individuals whose compelling stories illustrate serious issues facing people in rehab and endemic in the rehab industry today. Connected Writer and Researcher who has earned the respect (and cooperation) of experts throughout the fields she’s taken on. Inside Rehab is no exception—Fletcher has interviewed more than 100 professionals working in the field, including a mix of rehab staffers and administrators as well as leading academics. Rehab is constantly covered in the media, as celebrities battle their drug and alcohol issues in the spotlight and reality TV puts recovery in prime time. Addiction is no longer only a personal struggle—it’s a pop culture phenomenon. Myth Busting: Fletcher exposes twelve supposed facts for the falsehoods they are, including “rehab is necessary for most people to recover from addictions;” “highly trained professionals provide most of the treatment in addiction programs;” and “drugs should not be used to treat a drug addict.” Fletcher’s most important finding is the alarming discrepancy between the treatments being employed at many rehab centers and the treatments recommended by leading experts and supported by scientific research. Guidance and Practical Solutions: Inside Rehab also highlights what is working, spotlights state-of-the-art programs and practices, and offers advice and guidance for people seeking quality care and treatment for themselves or those they care about. Inside Rehab is the first book to give readers a thoughtful, sensitive, and bracingly honest insider’s view of the drug and alcohol rehab industry in America. For people seeking quality care for themselves or a loved one, Inside Rehab is essential reading, offering a wealth of accurate information and wise guidance.
