O livro trata dos reflexos causados na vida dos trabalhadores e empregadores especificamente acerca do instituto do intervalo intrajornada, após as mudanças trazidas pela Lei n.o 13.467/2017, em que a intenção do legislador foi o estímulo da autonomia privada coletiva. Todavia, no artigo 611-B, parágrafo único, da CLT, foi retirado dessa pausa o caráter de norma destinada à higiene, saúde e segurança do trabalhador, independentemente de inspeção do Ministério do Trabalho, para avaliação das peculiaridades do serviço e do meio ambiente laboral, o que leva ao questionamento da constitucionalidade e convencionalidade do dispositivo. O desenvolvimento da obra partiu da análise do intervalo intrajornada: seu conceito, evolução histórica e legislação pertinente. Posteriormente, examinou-se a negociação coletiva no Brasil; com base nestes aspectos, debruçou-se sobre o direito comparado, através de alguns dos países de melhor economia da América do Sul, Europa e dos Estados Unidos da América, demonstrando como é regulado o descanso no curso da jornada de trabalho, assim como as peculiaridades do sistema sindical dessas nações. Por final, abordou-se os reflexos das alterações do intervalo intrajornada, trazidos pela nova normatização.
