In December of 2011, during the worst national economic collapse since the 1930s,Las Vegas architect and business owner Craig Galati found his firm more than $800,000 in debt. To make matter worse, the company's founding partner had just resigned, the organization had used up all it's cash reserves, and there was next-to-no work in the pipeline. Although a partner in the firm, 51-year-old Galati had to this point enjoyed his role in business development, never needing to assume a leadership position. Racked by fear and self-doubt, Galati nevertheless stepped into the breach. Rather than hiding behind bankruptcy protection, he and his remaining partners vowed to pay off every creditor, rehire their furloughed workforce and turn the company around. With brutal honesty, a profound sense of obligation and a heartfelt desire to help others, Galati is not afraid to shine a light on his failures and successes as he worked around-the-clock to pull his firm back from the brink.

The Tortoise Usually Wins written by Brian Harris and has been published by Paternoster Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013 with Christian leadership categories.

A practical and encouraging book to help those in leadership roles but who don't feel like natural born leaders. The Tortoise Usually Wins is a delightful exploration of the theory of quiet leadership. Written for reluctant leaders, it interacts with three key biblical images of leadership - the leader as servant, shepherd and steward - and links them with some of the key virtues of quiet leadership - modesty, restraint, tenacity, interdependence and other-centeredness. The book argues that the bulk of leadership is about helping groups decide the right things to do and then getting on and doing them. Brian Harris is the principal of a highly regarded theological seminary and also pastors a thriving local church, so the book carries the wisdom of both professor and pastor, satisfying the reader both intellectually and practically. These insights are supplemented by interviews with significant quiet leaders from around the world, ensuring a rich feast for prospective and current reluctant leaders.

Life Story Of A Reluctant Leader written by Sandra Efird Carter and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007 with Educational leadership categories.

"The purpose of this study is to offer insight into the life of one ordinary person whose leadership persona exhibits both reluctance and confidence in varying educational settings. By presenting this woman's life story, I show the influence that culture, social experiences, and family traditions play in developing a person's leadership abilities as well as the role of compassion and reflection in the development of leadership qualities. My research question is why this person exhibits both reluctance and self-confidence in different settings. The narrator in this study is a third grade veteran teacher of twenty-eight years. During 2007, I collected and analyzed this woman's life story in a rural North Carolina community. In conducting narrative analysis, I used selectivity, slippage, silence, intertextuality, and subjectivity to analyze her life story (Casey, 1993; Casey, 1995 -1996). What I learned from this study is that compassion and reflection are components in leadership. The narrator exhibits leadership when she is compassionate about her topic, which promotes confidence in herself. The narrator's reflection was a powerful tool in gaining self-awareness and promoting confidence. Future educational leaders as well as teacher and administrative induction programs will benefit from this study by providing narrative dialogue and reflection opportunities to seek leadership strengths within potential educational leaders."--Abstract from author supplied metadata.
