Janet Robbins has the perfect life, or so she thought. She has the best job ever as a stay-at-home mom. She keeps extremely busy with her children, Sarah and Michael, chauffeuring them to school and activities, volunteering in their classrooms and school, and helping them with homework. Her children tell her she is the best mom ever. Janet runs the household without her husband Brad's help, as he is a busy school executive. She meticulously irons and coordinates his clothes and keeps him on schedule. Janet is supportive to Brad in every way imaginable with his demanding career. She slips into the world of a single parent without realizing it while she sees less and less of her husband. Her world turns upside down when Brad suddenly moves out during a slumber party. Janet realizes there is so much more to the story as Brad's three-year affair with a coworker comes to light, and they both lose their jobs. Brad is not willing to take the blame for his job loss and takes it out on Janet. Brad's true colors come to light as his true narcissistic side shows. He is unhappy when Janet is ordered sole custody of the children and vows to take them from her. He and his vindictive girlfriend, Suzanne, plan and plot ways to push Janet over the edge to take away the children to punish her for their job loss. Brad and Suzanne eventually marry and continue to harass Janet in unimaginable ways. Janet is strong and weathers many attacks but cannot compete financially with her ex-husband and his wife. Remembering the Raspberries is a tale of parental alienation and how it broke up a mother's relationship with her children. How long can Janet keep the faith?

Thank you once again for trusting us and following these awesome suggested recipes. The raspberry is often a forgotten fruit; we use strawberries and blueberries, but remember that raspberries are also full of nutrients, and can be added in many dishes for additional flavors. Sure you can go out of way and prepare a recipe such as one the ones suggested in this book. But you could also simply opt to incorporate them into your breakfast cereal, add fresh raspberries to your warm oatmeal, or to Greek or other kind of yogurts. Add them as a topping to your next garden salad, or pasta salad. We do encourage you to buy the fruits as fresh as possible, however we understand it is not always possible. You could make it a family affair and find a place to pick up these tiny fresh berries with everyone. However, buying them frozen is always a valid option and very acceptable.

The memoir of a Catholic nun’s spiritual journey that explores the deep connections between faith and the natural world Growing up in the Midwest, Judy Grathwohl never felt she belonged. “I belong out west,” she remembers telling her father. After joining the Sisters of St. Francis in the early 1960s and becoming Sister Marya, she came to realize that she craved a life beyond the traditional path of a Catholic nun. “Something other than dedicating my life to God was summoning me, some other life purpose,” she writes. It took several years and several detours, but when Sister Marya eventually was assigned by her order to the Northwest, she felt an immediate connection to the place and to its Native people, the Crow and Northern Cheyenne. Little by little, she was invited to become part of their communities, to share their customs and rituals, and eventually was adopted into one of their families. She came to understand that the blending of Catholic teachings and Native traditions helped build within her a deeper respect for the Earth—this wheel of rocks—that she could not have built on her own. In this intimate, revelatory memoir, Sister Marya recounts her own spiritual journey, her settling in Montana, how she—a Catholic nun from Ohio—came to be embraced by the Crow and Northern Cheyenne, and how their traditions prompted in her an expanding devotion to the land, its resources, and its connections to faith and God. Honest and eye-opening, funny and heartfelt, This Wheel of Rocks shows how living a spiritual life committed to preserving nature and community can be both fulfilling and productive.

Bitsie George has always dreamed of owning her own bakery. When she finds herself suddenly single after 27 years of marriage, Bitsie jumps at the chance of fulfilling her dream. The only drawback to her new life as a baker is the dead electrician in her kitchen. Was the electrician the victim of a tragic on-the-job accident, or is there something much more sinister afoot? It’s up to Bitsie to find out with a little help from her sister-in-law, her recently-retired-from-the-police-force brother, and her too-handsome-to-be-real shop assistant. It’s not easy finding a murderer when your most compelling clue is a half-eaten raspberry ripple cupcake, but perhaps a pleasantly-plump cupcake connoisseur is the perfect woman for the job.

The First We Can Remember written by Lee Schweninger and has been published by U of Nebraska Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-11-01 with History categories.

Looking over the great prairie in the early 1880s, Nellie Buchanan said, ?I knew I would never be contented until I had a home of our own in the wonderful West.? Some were not so sanguine. Mary Cox described the prairie as ?the most barren, forsaken country that we had ever seen.? Like the others whose stories appear in this book, these women were describing their own thoughts and experiences traveling to and settling in what became Colorado. Sixty-seven of their original, first-person narratives, recounted to Civil Works Administration workers in 1933 and 1934, are gathered for the first time in this book. The First We Can Remember presents richly detailed, vivid, and widely varied accounts by women pioneers during the late nineteenth century. Narratives of white American-born, European, and Native American women contending with very different circumstances and geographical challenges tell what it was like to settle during the rise of the smelting and mining industries or the gold rush era; to farm or ranch for the first time; to struggle with unfamiliar neighbors, food and water shortages, crop failure, or simply the intransigent land and unpredictable weather. Together, these narratives?historically and geographically framed by Lee Schweninger?s detailed introduction?create a vibrant picture of women?s experiences in the pioneering of the American West.
