As a part of the OSCE Mission to Serbia's efforts to support implementation of the Media Strategy that also underlines the need to observe digital habits and competences of Serbian citizens, due to growing importance of Internet and social media for news distribution and consumption, the OSCE Mission, in co-operation with the Independent Journalists' Association of Vojvodina (NDNV) produced 2022 Digital News Report for Serbia. The research presented here was done using the methodology of the Digital News Report 2022 conducted by the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism, University in Oxford. Digital News Report is the largest global study of news audiences, conducted annually by the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism. In 2022 the survey included 46 countries (without Serbia) and 93,000 online news consumers. The data gathered through this study enables comparative insight into news consumption trends, including access points, use of particular news brands, trust in media, perception of media and journalists, engagement around news, readiness to pay for news, and perception of disinformation.

This book explores the impact of new forms of online reporting on the BBC’s coverage of war and terrorism. Informed by the views of over 100 BBC staff at all levels of the corporation, Bennett captures journalists’ shifting attitudes towards blogs and internet sources used to cover wars and other conflicts. He argues that the BBC’s practices and values are fundamentally evolving in response to the challenges of immediate digital publication. Ongoing challenges for journalism in the online media environment are identified: maintaining impartiality in the face of calls for more open personal journalism; ensuring accuracy when the power of the "former audience" allows news to break at speed; and overcoming the limits of the scale of the BBC’s news operation in order to meet the demands to present news as conversation. While the focus of the book is on the BBC’s coverage of war and terrorism, the conclusions are more widely relevant to the evolving practice of journalism at traditional media organizations as they grapple with a revolution in publication.

While the regulatory frameworks of most countries include some provisions on the transparency of political finance, the mere declaration of this principle is often not sufficient to guarantee a fair political competition or comprehensive accountability and integrity on the part of political actors. This Technical Paper provides a snapshot of current practices in Europe on political finance disclosure, focusing on the transparency of the annual accounts of political parties, the transparency of campaign expenditure and the transparency of donations. The analysis of 41 countries in Europe shows a clear trend towards a higher level of online accessibility and usability of political financial information, but the level of transparency varies across countries.

Inclusive and sustainable economic growth in the six Western Balkan (WB6) economies depends on greater economic competitiveness. Although the gap is closing gradually, the standards of living in WB6 are well below those of the OECD and EU. Accelerating the rate of socio-economic convergence will require a holistic and growth oriented approach to policy making. This is the fourth study of the region (formerly under the title 'Competitiveness in South East Europe') and it comprehensively assesses policy reforms in the WB6 economies across 15 policy areas key to strengthening their competitiveness. It enables WB6 economies to compare economic performance against regional peers, as well as EU-OECD good practices and standards, and to design future policies based on rich evidence and actionable policy recommendations. The regional profile presents assessment findings across five policy clusters crucial to accelerating socio-economic convergence of the WB6 by fostering regional co-operation: business environment, skills, infrastructure and connectivity, digital transformation and greening. Economy-specific profiles complement the regional assessment, offering each WB6 economy an in-depth analysis of their policies supporting competitiveness. They also track the implementation of the previous 2021 study's recommendations and provide additional ones tailored to the economies’ evolving challenges. These recommendations aim to inform structural economic reforms and facilitate the region’s socio-economic convergence towards the standards of the EU and OECD.
