The Highland Knights series continues as one of Scotland's most steadfast warriors shields a broken beauty while she soothes the pain in his soldier's heart. *This book was previously published under the title Highland Temptation, The Highland Knights, book 3, and is being reissued with a new cover and content changes. The Warrior: Ever since the Battle of Waterloo, Sir Colin Stirling has struggled with memories that haunt him night and day. Driven near to madness, he no longer trusts himself with meaningful relationships of any kind. At least in this temporary sanctuary, Colin can withdraw from the world-that is, until his stunningly gorgeous charge learns the full depth of his pain. The Lady: When Lady Emilia Featherstone discovers that her despicable father has been scheming against the crown, she turns to the Highland Knights for protection-and retribution. Spirited away to a safe house on the outskirts of London, Emilia is surprised to find herself sharing close quarters with a soft-spoken, musclebound Highlander. Before long, curiosity gives way to an alarming attraction. Emilia has learned firsthand from her father that men are not to be trusted. She just never met one so honorable and loyal, so powerful and, yes, tempting. In Emilia, Colin sees a kindred spirit with battle scars of her own. He also senses a chance to heal...and to find love. TW/CW: depictions of violence, assault, abuse, and PTSD

The McLeod Scotties is a book of memories about our thirteen Scottish Terriers.I decided to write this book after Angus died in March of 2010. A month later MacDougall passed away. Then in May of 2010 we adopted Sean from Scottie Kingdom Rescue of Dallas TX. Each event meant a revision of the book and more photos. It seemed to be an evolving project with each passing month. Finally the time had come to bring this book to print. My older brother Scott McLeod helped review the book for the inevitable errors. Dave Post, another Scottie fanatic offered to act as a second set of eyes during the writing process. The Doctors and staff of First Regional Animal Hospital (www.first24vet.com), to whom we owe the health of our Scotties participated in this book too. Some of the chapters talk about the medical history of our Scotties as well as their passing. At first I was reticent to dwell on some of the sad aspects of our Scotties. What caused me to include detailed medical information is that responsible companion animal ownership involves not only adoption, but a commitment to the health, both physical and mental, of your companion. We are the guardians of our animal companions. Our Scotties have brought years of joy and happiness to our family. Duffie, our first Scottie, taught us very quickly that Scotties rule the house, we are just allowed to live with them. Scottie independence teaches us we need to tolerate others as much as Scotties tolerate us.Our bakers dozen Scottish Terriers were each unique, bringing to our family their individual quirks and temperaments. When you are sad your Scottie will be there to comfort you; be a good listener; and, offer a different view of your problems.Scottish Terriers have fully decoded their human companions. They know what you need and when you need it.I hope you take away from The McLeod Scotties an understanding that there is a reason God put these animals on the Earth.Ken McLeod, Chandler AZDecember 2010www.mcleodscotties.comISBN: 978-0-692-01246-8

Call Out written by Hamish MacInnes and has been published by Vertebrate Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-08-12 with Sports & Recreation categories.

Call-out is the definitive collection of tales about early mountain rescue in the Highlands of Scotland from Hamish MacInnes – Everest pioneer and arguably the most famous Scottish mountaineer of the twentieth century. In the late 1960s, MacInnes led the Glencoe Mountain Rescue team and together they developed innovative techniques and equipment in order to save lives – often risking their own in the process – whether night or day, and always at a moment's notice. He was a central figure in the rescue during the 1963 New Year tragedy in the Cuillins on the Isle of Skye, and led groundbreaking rescues on Buichaille Etive Mor, Ben Nevis, Bidean nam Bian and many other legendary Scottish mountains. At the heart of the stories in Call-out are the unique characters in the team and wider Glencoe community who demonstrate faultless camaraderie, and – by virtue of MacInnes's engaging storytelling – inject an almost comical slant into these sometimes-grim accounts of misadventure in the mountains. The dark allure of the frozen Scottish peaks provides a foreboding backdrop against which we learn of Hamish MacInnes's concern for human life under even the most extreme conditions. Call-out offers an inspiring portrayal of responsible and dedicated mountaineering practice, which is as pertinent today as ever.

A Courageous Change of History's Past, Back In Time To World War II Scotland"Fancy a Spot of Tea?" John and Katie Duncan are settling into being British, having moved to small-town Scotland the year before. John's photography is selling well and budding novelist Katie's book has been successful. They've burned through much of their savings, but things are financially starting to look up. When John lands a photography job at Clydebank near Glasgow, Katie decides to tag along. That's his name!"One of those names oddly resembles one heard from old family stories. As the memories surface, Katie, John, and their friend Tim find themselves transported in time to days just prior to the Clydebank Blitz. John and Tim find they're employed at one of the most important shipyards in Scotland, one of the inevitable targets of the attack; each is living the life of one of their ancestors whom they know to have died in the blitz. Katie, however, takes up the life of one of her relatives in Glasgow and is horrified of her "husband's" role during this era."It's one of the targets. The whole city is."Katie has a chance to change Scottish history and save untold civilian lives, but to do so could mean altering the course of their own lives where they're never born.
