This report summarizes a research and development program for the use of a Resistance Jet Attitude Control in space vehicles and earth-orbiting satellites. The work was primarily concerned with the development and evaluation of basic components and establishing system and component design criteria. The overall effort included work in three general areas: (1) An analysis of missions and vehicles suitable for use of the resistance jet and a selection for subsequent work. (2) The analysis of various control logic techniques, a comparison and selection of the method most suitable for use with the resistance jet, and the building and evaluation of breadboard electronics. (3) Development of the resistance jet thruster was accomplished in two stages, a preliminary thruster and a prototype thruster. The preliminary engine was built and evaluated, the design was revised and two prototype engines were built and tested. Correlation between theory and test was demonstrated. A measure of system performance was obtained by an analog tie-in of the breadboard electronics and simulated thruster operation. (Author).
