LOGAN ________________________________________ THERE'S A SERIAL KILLER ON THE RUN AND HE'S HIDING IN YOUR HOUSE Thomas Brogan is a serial killer. With a trail of bodies in his wake and the police hot on his heels, it seems like Thomas has nowhere left to hide. That is until he breaks into an abandoned house at the end of a terrace on a quiet street. And when he climbs up into the loft, he realises that he can drop down into all the other houses through the shared attic space. That's when the real fun begins. The scope of orthopedic knowledge has expanded to such a degree that it has become increasingly difficult to maintain a fundamental grasp of the required knowledge base. This is compounded by the time constraints on adult learning, with the student or practitioner faced with ever-increasing demands on their time. This text is a much needed resource of orthopedic knowledge, which will prove useful not only to those in training but also to those faced by the ever-increasing demands of certification and recertification examinations. Well illustrated and organized into eight chapters extending from basic science to every specialty of orthopedic surgery (such as hand, foot and ankle, sports medicine, and spine) and put forward in outline form, the reader will find it easy to locate information on a specific subject for direct patient care, conferences or rounds, or examination review. Alternatively, the organization of each chapter facilitates an overall review of the subject matter. By virtue of its succinct style of presentation, this text will prove exceedingly useful to students and practitioners throughout the world.

This work includes a foreword by James Stageman. 'This book has been produced to serve as a resource for community physicians who bring medical residents into their practices and train them in their offices. This book has been designed with the busy community physician in mind. Each chapter is intended to serve as a practical, concise, easily read, stand alone resource on the topic covered.' - Paul M. Paulman, Audrey A. Paulman, Jeff D. Harrison, Jeff Susman and Kate Finkelstein, in the Preface. 'A comprehensive handbook for precepting residents. Although modern technology can change the way in which students acquire knowledge and skills, there is no substitute for a true mentor. In medicine, perhaps more than in any other profession, our mentors have always enjoyed a special place in our hearts and minds. Although some professional athletes may contend that "I am not a role model", there is no doubt where you and I, as preceptors, stand on this issue. We are role models. We are mentors and upon us falls the responsibility to prepare tomorrow's physicians for careers in public service that we can only begin to comprehend.' - James Stageman, in the Foreword. Written by practicing and academic physicians with decades of experience, this book is the only complete guide written specifically for busy community physicians who teach medical residents in their office. Each chapter is short, concise, easily read and serves as a stand alone reference on the topic covered. Its contents include: identifying learning needs and creating the learning environment; setting goals and objectives, providing feedback and evaluating residents; involving your office staff in teaching and integrating practice management into the preceptorship; preparing the community and practice for the residents and collaborating with local hospitals; documenting supervision and addressing ACGME competencies; and dealing with regulatory bodies and addressing liability issues. This book is an invaluable guide for practicing physicians teaching medical residents in the workplace, particularly those in family medicine, internal medicine and pediatrics, and a useful reference for residency program directors.

Stylish, aspirational homes and the dogs that live in them in a beautifully photographed celebration of style and canines. Just as every home is different, so is every dog. In this stunningly photographed book of architecturally superb houses—many of them architects’ own homes—we see how the presence of a dog brings warmth and life to the most dramatic spaces. From mid-century raw brick to a penthouse apartment, gracious Edwardian to Scandinavian modern, from beach house to country retreat, there is always room for a dog or two. They trot, nap, and sniff through every page, at times more rambunctious than their surroundings, and at others perfectly in tune with the setting. Peek inside the most breathtaking homes that feature French bulldogs, golden retrievers, Labradoodles, and more as your guides. Oblivious to designer furniture, heritage considerations, or serious design aesthetics, dogs can make themselves at home anywhere. In fact, the homes in this book are all the more appealing because of their resident dogs.
