Polite Politics written by Denny Ho Kwok-leung and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-08-26 with Political Science categories.

This title was first published in 2000: This book contributes to social movement theory and to an understanding of Hong Kong politics through analysis of an urban housing protest movement. The theoretical approach adopted is a multi-level one, and seeks to show the influence of the political context, the resources available to the groups concerned, the actors’ interpretations of their situation and their strategy preferences. This approach fills a gap in social movement theory because most theoretical frameworks focus on a single level of analysis. The book also aims to help researchers in the field to re-examine the current development of social movement theories and to learn the specific trajectory of urban social movements in Hong Kong.

Albert Einstein said: "There are problems in today's world that cannot be solved by the level of thinking that created them." His words ring true as we face many worrying problems that our politicians and world leaders, predictably using the wrong level of thinking, are failing to solve. This book is the product of a refreshingly different level of thinking - outside of the box. It identifies and analyses the problems; reveals their origins; exposes the conspiracy of greed and power behind them and shows how they can be removed from our lives. It explains the flaws in the world's unsecured monetary system, warning of the dangers we face if we remain completely and utterly dependent upon it. It proposes a unique equitably shared monetary system, which will also enable us to combat the predicted consequences of global warming and climate change. It also proposes a bold and unifying social contract for the human race, using a modern interpretation of the words of Moses in Genesis 1: 28 as the foundation for its terms and conditions. The consequential lifestyle benefits for future generations will greatly exceed those of their ancestors. We dare not and must not fail them.

This is a print on demand edition of a hard to find publication. This review examined whether: (1) ACORN applied for federal funds through DoJ-administered grant programs; (2) ACORN received federal funds through DoJ-administered grant programs; (3) controls were placed on the use of DoJ grant funds awarded to ACORN; and (4) DoJ conducted any reviews or audits of the use of DoJ grant funds awarded to ACORN. The review also conducted the same analysis for organizations that were ACORN affiliates. The review did not find any direct DoJ grants to ACORN during the past 7 years. In total, this review found that ACORN and its affiliates received one direct grant and four sub-awards totaling approximately $200,000 between FY 2002 and 2009. Charts and tables.

Jane Addams And The Practice Of Democracy written by Marilyn Fischer and has been published by University of Illinois Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-10-01 with Political Science categories.

Using a rich array of newly available sources and contemporary methodologies from many disciplines, the ten original essays in this volume give a fresh appraisal of Addams as a theorist and practitioner of democracy. In an increasingly interdependent world, Addams's life work offers resources for activists, scholars, policy makers, and theorists alike. This volume demonstrates how scholars continue to interpret Addams as a model for transcending disciplinary boundaries, generating theory out of concrete experience, and keeping theory and practice in close and fruitful dialogue. Contributors are Harriet Hyman Alonso, Victoria Bissell Brown, Wendy Chmielewski, Marilyn Fischer, Shannon Jackson, Louise W. Knight, Carol Nackenoff, Karen Pastorello, Wendy Sarvasay, Charlene Haddock Seigfried, and Camilla Stivers.
