Kepemimpinan pada dasarnya fondasi terpenting dalam sebuah negara, lembaga, dan organisasi untuk memantapkan posisi sebagai penangkal konflik dan isu perpecahan. Kepemimpinan berbicara tentang bagaimana seseorang dapat memengaruhi, menginspirasi orang lain mau belajar dan bekerja secara ikhlas dengan latar belakang mereka yang berbeda-beda. Pancasila memiliki nilai-nilai yang dapat dijadikan pedoman oleh seora pemimpin. Ketika Pancasila dijadikan sebagai landasan ideologi maka harus memuat tiga macam nilai utama yaitu nilai dasar, nilai instrumental, dan nilai praktis. Kemudian saat Pancasila dijadikan sebagai basis utama dalam menjalankan kepemimpinan maka transendensi, humanisasi, kebhinnekaan, dan keadilan harus menjadi pegangan bagi pemimpin. Korelasi antara nilai ideologi dan kepemimpinan pada sebuah bangsa adalah hubungan antara sistem dan subsistemnya. Ideologi Pancasila sebagai perwujudan citra diri bangsa Indonesia sebagai sistem utama, sementara kepemimpinan sebagai substansi yang merupakan proses di dalamnya, keduanya tak dapat dipisahkan. Maka dalam Kepemimpinan Pancasila, seorang pemimpin berjiwa dan menjiwai kelima sila Pancasila, ia mengerti benar akan hakikat Pancasila sebagai ideologi bangsa Indonesia. Dengan demikian, semua kebijakan yang diambilnya akan berpedoman pada ideologi bangsa. Implementasi nilai-nilai Pancasila akan lebih mudah terlihat dalam praktik bernegara.

Indonesia is a remarkable case study for religious politics. While not being a theocratic country, it is not secular either, with the Indonesian state officially defining what constitutes religion, and every citizen needing to be affiliated to one of them. This book focuses on Java and Bali, and the interesting comparison of two neighbouring societies shaped by two different religions - Islam and Hinduism. The book examines the appropriation by the peoples of Java and Bali of the idea of religion, through a dialogic process of indigenization of universalist religions and universalization of indigenous religions. It looks at the tension that exists between proponents of local world-views and indigenous belief systems, and those who deny those local traditions as qualifying as a religion. This tension plays a leading part in the construction of an Indonesian religious identity recognized by the state.
