Buku ini menyentuh perkaitan antara dakwah dengan ilmu retorik dalam usaha mempengaruhi khalayak sasaran melalui penulisan. Dakwah merupakan aktiviti seruan yang ditugaskan kepada kaum muslimin dengan cara-cara tertentu kepada orang lain supaya melakukan kebaikan dan menjauhi perkara yang mungkar. Oleh sebab ia bersifat seruan untuk melakukan kebaikan dan larangan melakukan kejahatan, maka isi kandungan dalam dakwah menjadi tumpuan dalam mencapai matlamat dakwah. Selain mesej dakwah, gaya penyampaian (uslub al-da`wah) merupakan elemen yang membantu mesej dakwah disampaikan dengan lebih baik dan difahami serta mampu mempengaruhi khalayak. Memandangkan usaha menyampaikan dakwah berkait dengan tugas mengubah pendapat, tingkah laku dan keyakinan manusia, maka pelbagai gaya dan pendekatan boleh dilakukan bagi mempertingkatkan keberkesanan penyampaian mesej dakwah, iaitu menggunakan ilmu retorik. Ilmu retorik yang diperkenalkan dalam buku ini dilihat dari perspektif dakwah yang tertumpu kepada kaedah untuk memanipulasi minda dan perasaan khalayaknya (uslub pembujukan dakwah) sama ada secara lembut, secara keras, secara halus, secara terus-terang, pendalilan rasional dan pendalilan emotif sesuai dengan kehendak al-Quran sebagaimana dalam Surah al-Nahl ayat 125
