Excerpt from Review of Theology and Philosophy, Vol. 2: July 1906-June 1907 The following are the steps by which, according to Erbt, our Pentateuch was reached, and they correspond, he thinks, with the principal periods in the history of the Hebrews from the time of David onwards. His book is, in fact, an attempt to establish and elucidate this analysis. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Excerpt from Review of Theology and Philosophy, Vol. 1: July, 1905-June, 1906 The correctors remark incidentally that the English of the Authorised Version is not faultless. Their own, even with the help of Mr G. W. Moon, is not without occasional flaws. Went out to and were baptised by him (mark i. 5) surely descends almost to the level of journalese. Should a further attempt be made in this direction it is to be hoped that even greater respect will be shown for the Authorised Version, while equal reverence is accorded to the original text - not with the awe-stricken superstition implied in the words of Gregory the Great, Cor Def in verbal: but with the judicious freedom of handling which, for the last forty years, since the Privy Council Judgment of 1 864. Excerpt from The Critical Review of Theological Philosophical Literature, Vol. 2 The third of these books may be regarded as an appendix to the other two, and these two are respectively the German and English versions of one work, though, as we shall yet see, the versions differ considerably. Professor Pfleiderer is well qualified for the task he here essays - viz., to be the interpreter of German theology to English students, and of English theology to German. He knows his own field as cultivated by his own people; while his most characteristic work has been in the department of Biblical theology, yet the most meritorious portions of his Reltgionsphilosophie were those concerned with the history and criticism of German religious thought. And he knows us, or ought to know us, for this is the second work he has expressly written for the instruction of our insular ignorance. Yet these two are his least satisfactory books, and are marked by the defects of work done to order; they want the fresh, thorough, sympathetic treatment which distinguished what he had spontaneously undertaken. Of course, Pfleiderer is too independent and penetrating a critic to write a feeble or ineffective book; but a vigorous book may yet be quite unworthy of both subject and author. The field, so far as it relates to German theology, has been well tilled, and by men of all schools and tendencies. The Becoming Of God written by Roland Faber and has been published by Wipf and Stock Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-04-06 with Religion categories.

How should we believe in God today? If we look beyond our little lives to the vast cosmos, we may even ask: Why all that? And even if we spiritually feel the universe: Why believe any religion? After all, there are many; and haven't they contributed to the predicament of humanity? Process theology gives provocative answers to these questions: how we are bound by the organic cycles of this world, but how in this web of life God shines even in the last, least, and forgotten event as the Eros of its becoming and as its mirror of greatness; why anything exists: because it is from beauty, for harmony and intensity, and through a consciousness of peace rising from our deepest intuitions of existence. We can change: not only in our thoughts and lives, but even in the way we experience this world. This book introduces such a new way of experiencing, thinking, and living. Based on the fascinating work on cosmology, religion, and civilization of Alfred North Whitehead, this book develops the main theses of process theology and elucidates it as a theopoetics of mutual care for the unexpected, the excluded, the forgotten, and a future society of peace.
