Nicaragua offers nature reserves brimming with wildlife, uncrowded beaches, well-preserved colonial architecture and a growing number of excellent ecotourism opportunities. The tourism industry is still in its infancy, and limited infrastructure and little promotion abroad mean that Nicaragua remains largely off the radar for tourists. But this is precisely the reason to go there. Though Nicaragua continues to be a sought-after destination for adventurous travelers eager to experience adrenaline-filled water sports and land-based outdoors activities, upscale hotels and resorts are becoming increasingly common, attracting visitors looking for relaxation. More and more visitors are becoming aware of Nicaragua's opportunities to get away from it all by relaxing on Pacific beaches or secluded private islands and experiencing nature through boating or birdwatching. Shoppers find that the markets offer quality crafts, and it is often possible to meet the artisans themselves. Visitors can improve their Spanish through a language course and homestay, or they can volunteer in a local community to get an inside look at the country and its people. Nicaragua is unlikely to remain off the tourism map for long. For now, however, many travelers are inclined to keep the secrets of its picturesque lakes, lush rainforests, secluded beaches, and vibrant cultures to themselves. Nicaraguans, who often refer to themselves as "Nicas," are renowned for their friendly and welcoming nature. Visitors are still a curiosity in many parts of the country, and most tourists feel warmly received. Local markets and festivals offer glimpses into traditional rural life, while Managua boasts all of the trappings of a large urban area. Sandwiched between the Pacific Ocean and Lago de Nicaragua, the Pacific Lowlands region of Nicaragua, where Managua is located, is the country's most populated area. Managua, Nicaragua's capital city, has all the usual urban trappings, yet nearby natural attractions, including the beaches of Montelimar and the nature reserves of Chocoyero-El Brujo and Montibellire, are easily accessible. Managua offers many of Nicaragua's most vibrant accommodation, dining and entertainment options. Everything you need to know about Managua is detailed in this guide, from the hundreds of hotels and restaurants to walking tours, historic sites, nightclubs and trips to the many nearby attractions. Reserva Natural Chocoyero-El Brujo is one of those. Its name comes from two waterfalls, El Brujo and El Chocoyero. The latter is the best place to catch glimpses of the park's famous green parakeets. Couch potatoes rejoice: the trail to the Chocoyero waterfall is mostly flat, and you'll be rewarded with beautiful views of the cascading waters

Critically acclaimed, for readers of Paul Beatty's The Sellout and Jennifer Egan's The Candy House, a moving and darkly funny novel about an attempt to found an underground Utopia. An abandoned restaurant on a hill off the highway in Western Massachusetts doesn't look like much. But to Rio, a young Black woman bereft after the loss of her newborn child, this hill becomes more than a safe haven—it becomes a place to start over. She convinces her husband to help her construct a society underground, somewhere everyone can feel safe, loved, and accepted. Soon their utopia begins to take shape and attracts the unhoused, the disillusioned, and the spiritually lost. But no matter how much these people all yearn for a sanctuary from the existential dread of life above the surface, what happens if this new society can't actually work? From an exciting new literary voice, The New Naturals is fresh and deeply perceptive, capturing the absurdity of life in the 21st century. In this remarkable feat of imagination, Bump shows us that, ultimately, it is our love for and connection to each other that will save us. **A 2023 NEW YORK TIMES and WASHINGTON POST Notable Book and a BOSTON GLOBE Best Book of the Year**

The Global Governance Of Climate Change written by John J. Kirton and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-03-03 with Political Science categories.

Climate change control has risen to the top of the international agenda. Failed efforts, centred in the United Nations, to allocate responsibility have resulted in a challenge now reaching crisis stage. John J. Kirton and Ella Kokotsis analyse the generation and effectiveness of four decades of intergovernmental regimes for controlling global climate change. Informed by international relations theories and critical of the prevailing UN approach, Kirton and Kokotsis trace the global governance of climate change from its 1970s origins to the present and demonstrate the effectiveness of the plurilateral summit alternative grounded in the G7/8 and the G20. Topics covered include: - G7/8 and UN competition and convergence on governing climate change - Kyoto obligations and the post-Kyoto regime - The role of the G7/8 and G20 in generating a regime beyond Kyoto - Projections of and prescriptions for an effective global climate change control regime for the twenty-first century. This topical book synthesizes a rich array of empirical data, including new interview and documentary material about G7/8 and G20 governance of climate change, and makes a valuable contribution to understanding the dynamics of governing climate change. It will appeal to scholars, researchers, and policy makers interested in the dynamics behind governance processes within the intergovernmental realm.
