"The Bytes of Life offer an almost illicit, forbidden glimpse at what goes on when no one else is supposed to be looking!" ~Mark Woods, Author of Fear of the Dark and Time of Tides Keeping their bond alive even when they are apart... A business trip. Unlimited roaming. What can possibly come out of this combination? When Trevor and Cassandra are apart, the heart grows more than fonder.... Witness their wicked games as they keep their bond alive even with an ocean between them. 18+ GRAPHIC LANGUAGE AND ADULT SITUATIONS **Character-driven novellas and short stories in a thrilling, romantic suspense series! Interview with the Authors Q - So what makes the Countermeasure Series special? A - Countermeasure pulls in the best of Erotic Romance, Adventure and Suspense into one single series. We also aim to write about people, not characters. They are true to life and flawed, also someone you feel you can connect to and invite for a coffee just to shoot the breeze. The series has two separate, yet connected sets of books. The novels develop the bulk of the mystery and adventure in the plot. The short stories and novellas develop the characters and bare the characters' souls to you. All of their dreams, disillusions, fears are exposed in the short stories. The short stories and Novellas are also what we call Romantica. They are stories portraying a day in the life of the characters after their "I do". A mix between Romance and Erotica where you are the fly on the wall during the married couples' intimate moments. If you enjoy high heat, spicy reads involving married couples, you got to the right series. Q - What order should I read the books? A - We recommend you read the novels and novellas in the following order. Please note the short stories and novellas are not mandatory reads to understand the suspense arc in the novels. - Countermeasure - Uncharted (FREE prequel with subscription to our newsletter) - Ecstasy by the Sea (also available in Countermeasure: Bytes of Life Volume I Bundle Deal) - Cuffed at Midnight (also available in Countermeasure: Bytes of Life Volume I Bundle Deal) - Take Me - Passion at Dawn (also available in Countermeasure: Bytes of Life Volume I Bundle Deal) - Something Crazy - To Russia with Love - Blindsided (also available in Countermeasure: Bytes of Life Volume II Bundle Deal) - Roaming Pleasure - Payback - Lost to Rapture (also available in Countermeasure: Bytes of Life Volume II Bundle Deal) - Brazen - Christmas Wish (also available in Countermeasure: Bytes of Life Volume II Bundle Deal) - Alternate Connection Q - Why should I give these books a try? A - Because the Countermeasure Series books take you on a fast, fun and thrill-filled ride that will leave you wanting for more from all of our characters. Readers who are not skirmish about adult scenes and language appreciate the books greatly. Thank you for reading! Winner, 2023 Choice Outstanding Academic Title Our relationship with things abounds with paradoxes. People assign value to objects in ways that are often deeply personal or idiosyncratic yet at the same time rooted in specific cultural and historical contexts. How do things become meaningful? How do our connections with the world of things define us? In Ming and Qing China, inquiry into things and their contradictions flourished, and its depth and complexity belie the notion that material culture simply reflects status anxiety or class conflict. Wai-yee Li traces notions of the pleasures and dangers of things in the literature and thought of late imperial China. She explores how aesthetic claims and political power intersect, probes the objective and subjective dimensions of value, and questions what determines authenticity and aesthetic appeal. Li considers core oppositions—people and things, elegance and vulgarity, real and fake, lost and found—to tease out the ambiguities of material culture. With examples spanning the late sixteenth to the mid-eighteenth centuries, she shows how relations with things can both encode and resist social change, political crisis, and personal loss. The Promise and Peril of Things reconsiders major works such as The Plum in the Golden Vase, The Story of the Stone, Li Yu’s writings, and Wu Weiye’s poetry and drama, as well as a host of less familiar texts. It offers new insights into Ming and Qing literary and aesthetic sensibilities, as well as the intersections of material culture with literature, intellectual history, and art history.

If you have visited Italy or are going soon, you probably know the basics: ordering a coffee will get you an espresso, dont plan to shop between 2:00 and 4:00 PM, and Italians tip about 5 percent compared to our 15 percent. However, if someone tells you to locate the zebra stripes, asks if you want to borrow a phone, or recommends some local cannoli, theres a good chance youll be caught off guard. During a seventeen-day escapade in a remote town two hours south of Naples, DAmato and his students discovered the nuances of Italian society and much more. From being pick-pocketed to realizing there was no drinking age, the teenagers confronted many unanticipated situations. Whether you are contemplating a vacation in Italy or wondering what happens when a teacher takes students four thousand miles from home, DAmatos travel journal will serve as an intimate guide to the pain and pleasure of cross-cultural immersion. His captivating accounts are filled with impassioned observations and practical advice that will help readers avoid the potential pitfalls of traveling abroad. Roam Italy will make even jaded world travelers slow down to savor the oft-missed beauty and meaning embedded in seemingly ordinary everyday experiences. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DAmato has the soul of a poet. Phyllis Johnson, Tidewater Teacher Magazine DAmato conveys the transformative nature of traveling to a foreign country, especially at a time when xenophobia and ethnocentrism are exceedingly prevalent. Humorous anecdotes about living with an Italian family are interlaced with historical tidbits and insights about cultural traditions. Chuang Tzu's first three chapters are arranged into free verse (in Chinese, in the original word order) and translated, nearly word-for-word, with extensive critical glosses vis-a-vis over fifty Chinese, Japanese, and Western commentators. The exegetical, philosophical, and contemporary implications of these chapters are then meditated upon. Here, in Chuang Tzu's world, all strivings are a play, parodying stories and arguments; each plays off of and refers to the others. Chuang Tzu lived during the third and fourth centuries B.C. Historically, he is the foremost spokesman for Taoism and its legendary founder, Lao Tzu. It was mainly due to the influence of Chuang Tzu that Indian Buddhism was transformed in China into Ch'an into the unique vehicle we usually call by its Japanese name, Zen. This is the most thorough presentation to date of the Chuang Tzu's poetic beauty, philosophical insights, and unity.

2020 Quick Pick for Reluctant Young Adult Readers—YALSA/ALA “An empathetic tale that treats homelessness with respect and makes it visible.”—Kirkus Reviews Seventeen-year-old Abby Lunde and her family are living on the streets. They had a normal life back in Omaha but, thanks to her mother’s awful mistake, they had to leave behind what little they had for a new start in Rochester. Abby tries to be an average teenager—fitting in at school, dreaming of a boyfriend, college and a career in music. But Minnesota winters are unforgiving, and so are many teenagers. Her stepdad promises to put a roof over their heads, but times are tough for everyone and Abby is doing everything she can to keep her shameful secret from her new friends. The divide between rich and poor in high school is painfully obvious, and the stress of never knowing where they're sleeping or where they’ll find their next meal is taking its toll on the whole family. As secrets are exposed and the hope for a home fades, Abby knows she must trust those around her to help. But will her new friends let her down like the ones back home, or will they rise to the challenge to help them find a normal life? "We, her readers, are drawn in from the first page. This lovely book has tremendous heart.”—Brandon Hobson, author of Where the Dead Sit Talking

'Roam' is the sixth book in Benjamin Campbell's 13books poetry series. Charting a range of topics throughout the year, these books aim to capture a slice of modern life. This collection grew out of Campbell's travels through Austria and Italy, but they reach far wider than that, interrogating the human desire to wander through both real and imaginary places. The child-like wonder of adventure and exploration is a running theme throughout this work. You can read more of Benjamin's poetry and prose at his blog, http: //sketchythiings.tumblr.com
