Règles de vie et règles d'écriture entrent dans une relation fondamentale qui ouvre sur une pensée de la rhétorique et du contrat. L'engagement politique ou esthétique, la " subversion subtile ", le " non-vouloir-saisir " sont autant de formes que prend le rapport problématique du sujet et de l'autre. Tantôt menace, tantôt accomplissement, l'autre du lecteur arrache le sujet à l'égotisme et offre une solution acceptable au tragique de l'écriture comme au tragique de la vie.
