Ghetto Religiosity Iii written by Khalil Amani and has been published by iUniverse this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2003-01-15 with Body, Mind & Spirit categories.

Khalil Amani has done it again! With his third installment of the Ghetto Religiosity series, Amani brings it home like fish & grits! He has done to religion what your mama does in the kitchen-Put his foot all up in it! Of great interest is Amani's critique and analysis of his former teacher, Yahweh Ben Yahweh. Amani cogently deconstructs Yahweh theology with the precision of a neurosurgeon, giving us a detailed account of Yahweh teachings, which have been exposed as plagiarisms from the Nation of Islam among others. Perhaps most controversial is Amani's scathing and blistering attack on 9/11 and our religious and secular perceptions/ideas about why this tragedy occurred. Amani takes exception to and rejects the pseudo-religiosity of 9/11. In his usual hard-core fashion, Amani puts God's business on front-street and asks the critical questions about God's whereabouts in our time of need. This book is not for the faint of heart! Growing up in the Midwest, being born into a large family and having a nomadic father, caused my life to be one of great adventures. My father was a preacher and a jack of all trades. He was an inventor and entrepreneur. He could not look at an empty building without wanting to start a church or a business in it. Life with him was an education, and growing up as the youngest of twelve children set the stage for lots of fun and experiences. Although I did not set out to write a life story, I suppose this is kind of what it is. It seems I have spent most of my adult life trying to get free from the hypocrisy and man-made rules of organized religion and denominations. I consider myself predenominational. I endeavor to base my beliefs and my life on the teachings of Jesus and the early church. It has been a great struggle to Escape from Religiosity.

This book explores the contexts and reception history of Robert Pollok’s religious epic The Course of Time (1827), one of the best- selling long poems of the nineteenth century, which has been almost entirely forgotten today. Widely read in the United States and across the British Empire, the poem’s combination of evangelical Calvinism, High Romanticism, and native Scottishness proved irresistible to many readers. This monograph traces the poem’s origins as a defense of Biblical authority, divine providence, and religious orthodoxy (against figures like Byron and Joseph Priestley) and explores the reasons for The Course of Time’s enormous, decades- long popularity and later precipitous decline. A close reading of the poem and an examination of its reception history offers readers important insights into the dynamic relationship between religion and wider culture in the nineteenth century, the uses of literature as a vehicle for theological argument and theodicy, and the important but often overlooked role that religion played in literary— and, particularly, Scottish— Romanticism. This work will appeal to scholars of religious history, literary history, Evangelicalism, Romanticism, Scottish literature, and nineteenth- century culture.

Pre-Romantic Poetry intervenes powerfully in debates about eighteenth-century writing, Romanticism, and literary history. By arguing that 'pre-romanticism' exists to patrol the limits of 'romantic' writing the book questions existing approaches to eighteenth- and nineteenth-century writing, and to period-based study more generally. As well as presenting pioneering re-interpretations of poets such as Thomas Gray and William Cowper, Pre-Romantic Poetry reads late-eighteenth-century poetry alongside earlier writers (especially Alexander Pope) and later ones (including William Wordsworth and John Keats). Paying particular attention to pastoral poetry, patronage, and occasional poetry, the book historicizes questions of language and form in order to shift prevailing notions of eighteenth-century and Romantic writing.

In a critical ecological approach, the entanglement of nature in the discourses of supernatural religious doctrine and practice is often perceived as one of the causes of the instrumentalization of the natural world for anthropocentric hegemony over divine creation. On the other hand, a certain “environmental turn” can be observed in the theological discourses of various religions. In addition to the eco-theological tendencies present in contemporary theological reflection within the world’s main religions, another interesting phenomenon is the attempt to restore archaic forms of spirituality in the materialistic discourses of posthumanism. These issues are critically analyzed in individual articles taking into account various approaches and thematic circles.

Nineteenth-century American women’s culture was immersed in religious experience and female authors of the era employed representations of faith to various cultural ends. Focusing primarily on non-canonical texts, this collection explores the diversity of religious discourse in nineteenth-century women’s literature. The contributors examine fiction, political writings, poetry, and memoirs by professional authors, social activists, and women of faith, including Elizabeth Stuart Phelps, Angelina and Sarah Grimké, Louisa May Alcott, Rebecca Harding Davis, Harriet E. Wilson, Sarah Piatt, Julia Ward Howe, Julia A. J. Foote, Lucy Mack Smith, Rebecca Cox Jackson, and Fanny Newell. Embracing the complexities of lived religion in women’s culture-both its repressive and its revolutionary potential-Nineteenth-Century American Women Write Religion articulates how American women writers adopted the language of religious sentiment for their own cultural, political, or spiritual ends.

Why are there so few 'happily ever afters' in the Romantic-period verse romance? Why do so many poets utilise the romance and its parts to such devastating effect? Why is gender so often the first victim? The Romantic Paradox investigates the prevalence of death in the poetic romances of the Della Cruscans, Coleridge, Keats, Mary Robinson, Felicia Hemans, Letitia Landon, and Byron, and posits that understanding the romance and its violent tendencies is vital to understanding Romanticism itself.

This book is only the first step in exploring the relationship between happiness and religion, especially in Young Indonesian Muslims. The content of this book is based on research that has been conducted during doctoral study at Deakin University, Australia and the study aimed is to elucidate the relationship between happiness and religiosity as experienced and understood by a group of 12 young people studying at a large public Islamic university in Jakarta. Interviews with the participants about their understanding of religion and conceptualization of happiness were analyzed using Giorgi's descriptive phenomenological approach to elucidate the meaning of happiness and religion in young Muslims. The findings show that there were differences in how the participants described their happiness, that a range of factors affected their happiness and influenced their ability to cope with stress. While many of the participants had some of the same ideas about religion and its relationship to happiness that are common in Indonesia in general, religion was not a significant factor in their happiness, nor was it the direct support for them in coping with stress. In this, the study suggests that Indonesia's widespread assumption that religion is the most significant source of resilience and coping may not apply to younger individuals who typically have many more choices than may have been available in the past. Describing and give meaning to Religiosity and Happiness and how that two terms can be connected in some ways is not an easy path. It is long-life learning indeed. However, learning that you can have more of those things is life-changing. Thus, this book will increase your happiness, and it will inspire you a lot. Enjoy!!! Jakarta, Februari 2021 Yufi Adriani

The interest in the topic of spirituality as a more or less independent dimension of quality of life is continuously growing, and research questions are beginning to change as the field of religiosity changes, becoming more diverse and pluralistic. Addressing new topics in health research also relies on standardized questionnaires. The number of instruments intended to measure specific aspects of spirituality is growing, and it is particularly difficult to evaluate the new instruments. This Special Issue will focus on some of the established instruments (updating them to different languages and cultures), but will also describe the features and intentions of newly-developed instruments, which may potentially be used in larger studies to develop knowledge relevant to spiritual care and practice. This Special Issue will serve as a resource on the instruments used to study the wide range of organized religiosity, the individual experience of the divine, and an open approach in the search for meaning and purpose in life.
