Proč v současné době narůstá zájem o paměť, vzpomínky a vyprávění očitých svědků historických událostí? Lidé se vydávají na místa paměti, pátrají ve velkém po osudech svých předků. Čím je nárůst obliby fenoménu historické paměti způsoben? Autor v knize „Promluvili o zlu“ předkládá zamyšlení nad vzájemným vztahem dějin a paměti. Práce však není jen teoretickou úvahou, ale také nevšední interpretací vzpomínek přeživších holocaustu. Stranou autorovy pozornosti nezůstává ani nabídka didaktické aplikace představovaného tématu. Jak se u těch, kteří se štěstím unikli hrůzám nacistické genocidy, vyvíjelo zacházení s vlastními zážitky? Vyprávěli svědci hrůz svým blízkým o tom, co prožili? Nedali snad raději přednost mlčení nebo úmyslnému zapomnění? Historik a didaktik dějepisu Milan Hes označuje zkoumané roviny vzpomínek přeživších pojmem „metahistorie holocaustu“. Zážitek holocaustu pro přeživší neskončil spolu s osvobozením v roce 1945. V jejich paměti zůstal přítomen dále, stal se metahistorií, jež byla mnohdy stejně nesnesitelnou jako minulost sama.Text publikace vychází z autorovy disertace, kterou úspěšně obhájil v červnu 2012 na Filozofické fakultě Univerzity Karlovy. K vydání ji například doporučil přední slovenský odborník na dějiny holocaustu - PhDr. Ivan Kamenec, CSc.
