S.H.E. Sustaining Her Essence is a book of poetry dedicated to women; their growth, their healing, their beauty, their essence. It's purpose is to help women heal from past hurts and move forward to a brighter tomorrow. Some of the poems are stories, both the author's and some women she has met thoroughout her life, some only in spirit. Some of the poems are not specifically about women, but, since written from a woman's persective, are included within. Others are dedications, to some living and others who have been birthed into eternity. All in all, it is a beautiful and diverse collection that can speak to many people from different backgrounds and walks of life. Although we are all uniquely different, we are all very much the same. The artistic photography within speaks to this concept with "The face of every woman;" a tribute to different races, ethicities, and religions.

Karmen holds two Ph.D.'s in business ethics of artificial intelligence and sustainable macroeconomics. She is a visiting professor at the Catholic Institute Faculty of Business Studies, Philosophy Department at the University of Maribor, and other private faculties. Besides her academic engagements, she is the owner of the Inner Beauty Center in the Canary Islands, where she teaches how to live a successful and balanced everyday life. Karmen is very active entrepreneur, who creates effective ties between companies and distributor networks around the world, and especially helps European companies to enter African markets. She also established Gaia and Ocean2Breathe Foundations to help protect the environment on a global level. Compassion and persistence are the words that define her. She is always looking for the optimal solution, considering all kinds of new perspectives that you would not have thought of. Karmen was always focused on success but was also faced early on with the consequences of burnout and a need to balance her life. She realized this when she was helping her mother struggle to fight cancer, and her career started to flourish at the same time. How can we live a balanced life? How can we take time for family and friends but still live a successful career life? Seeking answers to these questions, and helping others in their search, are the reasons Karmen established her own Inner Beauty Center in the Canary Islands-the European Hawaii. She welcomes you to join her, not simply to achieve, but to LIVE a happy, balanced, and successful life.

The New Thought Movement was an enormously popular late nineteenth-century spiritual movement led largely by and for women. Mary Baker Eddy's Christian Science is but one example of the fascinating range of these groups, which advocated a belief in mind over matter and espoused women's spiritual ability to purify the world. This work is the first to uncover the cultural implications of New Thought, embedding it in the intellectual traditions of nineteenth-century America, and illuminating its connections with the self-help and New Age enthusiasms of our own fin-de-siècle. Beryl Satter examines New Thought in all its complexity, presenting along the way a captivating cast of characters. In lively and accessible prose, she introduces the people, the institutions, the texts, and the ideas that comprised the New Thought movement. This fascinating social and intellectual history explores the complex relationships among social reform, alternative religion, medicine, and psychology which persist to this day.

American Fiction of the 1990s: Reflections of History and Culture brings together essays from international experts to examine one of the most vital and energized decades in American literature. This volume reads the rich body of 1990s American fiction in the context of key cultural concerns of the period. The issues that the contributors identify as especially productive include: Immigration and America’s geographical borders, particularly those with Latin America Racial tensions, race relations and racial exchanges Historical memory and the recording of history Sex, scandal and the politicization of sexuality Postmodern technologies, terrorism and paranoia American Fiction of the 1990s examines texts by established authors such as Don DeLillo, Toni Morrison, Philip Roth and Thomas Pynchon, who write some of their most ambitious work in the period, but also by emergent writers, such as Sherman Alexie, Chang-Rae Lee, E. Annie Proulx, David Foster Wallace, and Jonathan Franzen. Offering new insight into both the literature and the culture of the period, as well as the interaction between the two in a way that furthers the New American Studies, this volume will be essential reading for students and lecturers of American literature and culture and late twentieth-century fiction. Contributors include: Timothy Aubry, Alex Blazer, Kasia Boddy, Stephen J. Burn, Andrew Dix, Brian Jarvis, Suzanne W. Jones, Peter Knight, A. Robert Lee, Stacey Olster, Derek Parker Royal, Krishna Sen, Zoe Trodd, Andrew Warnes and Nahem Yousaf.
