Excerpt from Sun and Saddle Leather: Including Grass Grown Trails and New Poems Generous has been the praise given Sun and Saddle Leather, but perhaps no criticism has summed up the work so satisfactorily as the comment of the Old cowman who said, You can break me if there's a dead poem in the book, I read the hull of it. Who in H is this kid Clark, anyway? I don't know how he knowed, but he knows. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. A wondrous story of adventure and friendship featuring a group of women who ride Icelandic horses. "Blame it or praise it, there is no denying the wild horse in us." - Virgina Woolf Each June, Tory Bilski meets up with fellow women travelers in Reykjavik where they head to northern Iceland, near the Greenland Sea. They escape their ordinary lives to live an extraordinary one at a horse farm perched at the edge of the world. If only for a short while. When they first came to Thingeyar, these women were strangers to one another. The only thing they had in common was their passion for Icelandic horses. However, over the years, their relationships with each other deepens, growing older together and keeping each other young. Combining the self-discovery of Eat, Pray, Love, the sense of place of Under the Tuscan Sun, and the danger of Wild, Wild Horses of the Summer Sun revels in Tory's quest for the "wild" inside her. These women leave behind the usual troubles at home: illnesses, aging parents, troubled teenagers, financial worries and embrace their desire for adventure. Buoyed by their friendships with each other and their growing attachments and bonds with the otherworldly horses they ride, the warmth of Thingeyrar's midnight sun carries these women through the rest of the year's trials and travails. Filled with adventure and fresh humor, as well as an incredible portrait of Iceland and its remarkable equines, Wild Horses of the Summer Sun will enthrall and delight not just horse lovers, but those of us who yearn for a little more wild in everyday life.

The lords and ladies of the kingdom have no choice but to prepare their beloved daughters for the horrors ahead. But they’ll soon discover there are no longer any daughters left to present. All four have disappeared, painting the world with their rebellion. Theirs is not the only rebellion. Across the kingdom, little fires light within. Foo A Japanese American Prisoner Of The Rising Sun written by Frank Fujita and has been published by University of North Texas Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1993 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

During his time as a POW, Frank "Foo" Fujita kept a diary of daily happenings, embellished with drawings of life in the camp. He secreted the diary in the walls of his barracks, as the practice was forbidden. That diary forms the basis of these memoirs. Fujita's memoirs are also unique in that he was one of the fewer than nine hundred Americans taken prisoner on the island of Java. The bulk of American POWs in Japanese hands surrendered in the Philippines, and most of the published POW memoirs reflect their experience. Fujita's account of the defense of Java and of the fate of the "Lost Battalion" of Texas artillerymen serves to distinguish this memoir from others. At one point while a POW in Japan, Fujita was forced to be part of the Japanese radio group broadcasting propaganda. After the war, he testified at some of the war crime trials in San Francisco, and the diary on which this book is based was used as evidence in those trials.

John Lee Johnson in the Valley of the Sun is part of a series pitting John Lee Johnson, the powerfully strong and talented gunman against his nemesis, former Brigadier-General Frank McGrew, a very wealthy steel and railroad magnate. Their enmity goes back to the Civil War (just recently ended.) McGrew has hired private assassins; has sent waves of gunman. He even lured the big Texan into a pit fight with the meanest man alive. When Johnson defeated the toughest man in Chihuahua in a wild and exciting slugfest, McGrew conceived the plan to entice Johnson to return to Chihuahua, Mexico to brace the fastest gunman known on the planet for $100,000 in Mexican gold. The location is the Valley of the Sun...a desolate place of death. Beneath a cruel, inexorable sun constantly shining on nauseating yellow sand---surrounded by stark mountains that form a horseshoe shape valley lay the ruins of both a Christian mission and a sacrificial Aztec altar from centuries past. The hauntingly beautiful Marilla Urmacher, once an enemy to John Lee Johnson, but now a faithful ally comes to his rescue. She sends California's best gunfighter to run interference for the man she secretly loves, John Lee Johnson. The struggles on the journey and the list of strange characters that John Lee Johnson encounters make this an excellent read. It is a classic story of good versus bad. The reader may wonder if good will really win in the end. This western is different. It is not just a melodrama. It pits the money and influence of a wealthy man against the strongest and most singular man in Texas. Their struggles against each other influences so many other singular individuals that are caught up in this eventual death struggle.
