Piccioli All' Ottimo Commento della Divina Commedia Pisa Presso Niccolò Capurro 1827-28-29 In un secolo, siccome il nostro, in cui lo stu dio della toscana favella, e quel di Dante sono divenuti quasi di moda, non poteva non essere generalmente desiderata l' edizione d' un' ope ra, che alla doppia illustrazione serve e dell' u na, e dell' altro; vogliamo dire l'ottimo Com mento della Divina Commedia. Colla Pisa na Edizione si appago finalmente il comun voto; ma solo in parte: poichè il trascurato modo con cui fu quella eseguita lascia ancor molto a desiderare. Di fatti gli errori dell' an tico copiatore del Codice uniti a quelli del mo demo Editore vi abbondano talmente, che po che sono le pagine, per non dire i periodi ne' quali il lettore non trovi qualche ostacolo 3 co glierne il senso. E rispetto ai primi, essi sono tali, quali erano da aspettarsi da un amanuen se, uomo senza lettere, e al sommo grado igno rante. I secondi sono, quali esser doveano glierrori d'un Editore di Testi antichi, che tuo glie, cangia, ed arbitrariamente corregge quan to, 0 non gli piace, o non intende: di un Edi tore che nel preliminare suo discorso ai letto ri, si duole, che non siagli venuta molto prima alle mani: la scelta di Novelle antiche ristam pata a Modena per cura del Prof. Parenti per quindi prender conforto a togliere ogni ran cidume esteriore alle parole: d' un Editore, che, per non parer di rispettare la ruggine della vecchia età, cangia francam'ente, e per modo di correzione sanza in senza, rinun zw (per riferì) in annunzzo disporre in de porre, stjîcare in signgfi'care, perseguita (per continua) in proseguita, ghiova (per zolla) in gleba ec: d' un Editore infine, che, parlandosi nel Tomo III. Pag. 124 della madre del fon datore di Roma, cangia nel nome di Rea Sil via quello d' Ilia ignorando che pur così vien chiamata dalla mitologia, dalla storia, da' poe ti, e particolarmente da Virgilio in quel verso dell' Eneide Marte gravis geminam parta dabit ilia pralem (i') Nell' Appendice al Tomo lll pag. 750 si legge No la. La Crusca in nzonacare ha Ilia come il Testo Essendo questa una nota, e non una correzione giacchè quando l'editore corregge, usa le indicazioni, Correggi, Leggi; perciò l'errore esiste sempre, e quindi ne abbiamo fatto parola.
