'Monumental!' - Bob Ross, Australian Sailing High Performance Sailing is now regarded as the bible of racing sailors and carries a string of endorsements from high achievers. Since its publication in 1984, racing yachts and dinghies have developed out of all recognition - a new high-tech breed of 'apparent wind' fast racers has claimed the water and so far no-one has applied themselves seriously to analysing what makes these boats sail fast (and what will make them faster). This is Frank Bethwaite's ground-breaking achievement in Higher Performance Sailing. By means of extensive research, and working with sailors of different racing calibre, Bethwaite analyses how to harness the apparent wind for increased speed and better position on your rivals. Higher Performance Sailing will provide the key to racing sailors' dreams. Praise for Bethwaite's High Performance Sailing: 'It represents a breakthrough...It is a book that my Olympic squad will benefit from.' Rod Carr, former British Olympic Sailing Team Manager 'Allowed only one "if only" in yacht racing, it would have been to have read Higher Performance Sailing years ago.' Bob Fisher, journalist, broadcaster and international championship winner

Amplifying The Voices Of Individuals With Visual Impairments And Deaf Blindness In The Context Of Sports written by Martin Giese and has been published by Frontiers Media SA this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2026-01-09 with Medical categories.

The global inclusion movement, alongside the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), has shed light on the necessity to combat marginalization and discrimination faced by individuals with disabilities. Despite advancements, research indicates that individuals with visual impairments and deaf-blindness encounter significant barriers to participating in sports, physical activity, and physical education. Current studies reveal a gap in understanding their perspectives and experiences, which is crucial for designing genuinely inclusive environments. Addressing this gap requires a shift in perspective amplifying the voices of individuals with BVI and deaf-blindness within scholarly discourse. This call for papers aims to foster research that amplifies the voices of individuals with visual impairments and deaf-blindness in the context of sports, PA, and PE. We seek contributions that explore the lived experiences, perspectives, and challenges faced by individuals with BVI and deaf-blindness in the aforementioned settings. Additionally, we encourage submissions that propose innovative methodologies to actively engage individuals with disabilities in research processes, aligning with principles of inclusivity and empowerment. Ultimately, the goal is to advance understanding, identify barriers, and propose solutions to enhance the participation and inclusion of individuals with BVI and deaf-blindness in sports, PA, and PE. We invite submissions across disciplines to contribute original research articles, reviews, case studies, and methodological papers. Topics of interest include but are not limited to: ● Experiences and perspectives of individuals with visual impairments and deaf-blindness in sports, PA, and PE. ● Barriers to participation and inclusion faced by individuals with BVI and deaf-blindness in sports and PE settings. ● Innovative methodologies for researching the experiences of individuals with disabilities in sports, PA and PE. ● Strategies and interventions to enhance the participation and inclusion of individuals with BVI and deaf-blindness in sports, PA and PE. ● Examination of specialized PE programs for individuals with BVI and deaf-blindness and their effectiveness in promoting participation and inclusion. Authors are encouraged to adopt approaches in their research that authentically convey the perspectives of individuals with disabilities throughout the research process. Submissions should adhere to the guidelines provided by the journal and contribute novel insights to the field of inclusive sports and physical education.

Reasonable Democracy written by Simone Chambers and has been published by Cornell University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-10-18 with Philosophy categories.

In Reasonable Democracy, Simone Chambers describes, explains, and defends a discursive politics inspired by the work of Jürgen Habermas. In addition to comparing Habermas's ideas with other non-Kantian liberal theories in clear and accessible prose, Chambers develops her own views regarding the role of discourse and its importance within liberal democracies.Beginning with a deceptively simple question—"Why is talking better than fighting?"—Chambers explains how the idea of talking provides a rich and compelling view of morality, rationality, and political stability. She considers talking as a way for people to respect each other as moral agents, as a way to reach reasonable and legitimate solutions to disputes, and as a way to reproduce and strengthen shared understandings. In the course of this argument, she defends modern universalist ethics, communicative rationality, and what she calls a "discursive political culture," a concept that locates the political power of discourse and deliberation not so much in institutions of democratic decision-making as in the type of conversations that go on around these institutions. While discourse and deliberation cannot replace voting, bargaining, or compromise, Chambers argues, it is important to maintain a background moral conversation in which to anchor other activities. As an extended case study, Chambers examines the conversation about language rights that has been taking place for more than twenty years in Quebec. A culture of dialogue, she shows, has proved a positive and powerful force in resolving some of the disagreements between the two linguistic communities there.
