Sergio Atzeni, cagliaritano laurea in lettere, studioso di storia in generale e in particolare di quella Italiana e della Sardegna ha già pubblicato numerosi libri con temi storici. Giornalista, ha scritto per tanti anni sul quotidiano "l'Unione Sarda", oltre la cronaca e la politica, si è occupato nei suoi articoli anche di temi storici, ambientali e naturalistici. La sua attività di scrittore è volta soprattutto a far conoscere e diffondere il patrimonio storico ambiental e Italiano e regionale perché, come egli sostiene, "Conoscere la storia della propria terra è un diritto dovere al quale ognuno di noi non può e non deve rinunciare". Il libro "La Sardegna Nuragica" ultima fatica letteraria di Sergio Atzeni è adatto a tutti perché è caratterizzato dalla facilità di lettura e dalle pagine senza l'intensità dello scritto, i paragrafi infatti sono spesso intervallati da spazi bianchi che rendono la consultazione più rilassante. Gli avvenimenti del grande periodo Nuragico dell'età del Bronzo, per meglio essere compresi, sono preceduti dalla disamina del periodo Neolitico e del Rame con la descrizione puntuale di tutte quelle culture che sono le antenate della più grande è conosciuta: quella Nuragica. Nella pubblicazione si descrive con dovizia di particolari il periodo nuragico con tutte le sue peculiarità che vanno dai primi Nuraghi a Galleria a quelli a pseudocupola, monotorri e Complessi, dai villaggi alle Tombe dei Giganti e Pozzi Sacri. Anche la ceramica e i bronzetti, caratteristici di questo periodo, sono puntualmente esaminati in modo esauriente. Un capitolo a parte è dedicato agli Shardana il popolo guerriero misterioso descritto dagli egizi che tutto fa supporre si trattasse degli stes si nuragici e per questo vengono forniti dall'autore tanti indizi e considerazioni per tentare di chiarire quel mistero. Un altro importante capitolo è riservato ai Giganti di Mont'e Prama le decine di enormi statue ritrovate nel Sinis, vicino a Oristano, che rischiano di far riscrivere la preistoria della Sardegna. II libro "La Sardegna Nuragica" è completato da decine di foto, ricostruzioni, disegni, tabelle che rendono la lettura e la comprensione facili e piacevoli.
