"Get up! Grab a pen and write this down!" I glanced at the blue numbers on the clock next to me. They read 3:00 a.m. I tend to have difficulty sleeping, either I can't fall asleep, or I wake up numerous times throughout the night for no particular reason. So when I heard God wake me up that morning only to tell me to grab a pen, I did what any crazy person would do, I told Him I'd do it in the morning while rolling over, tucking myself back under the covers. Now I consider myself to be somewhat of a stubborn person. But as I've discovered, God is much more persistent than I could dream of being! My resistance lasted all of two minutes before I had a pen on the notebook paper, asking Him what to do next. He then told me to write about snotty tissues. I crinkled my nose, said that was disgusting, but obeyed anyway. Words poured from my pen all over that blue-striped paper. This pattern of Him waking me up at the wee morning hour of three o'clock continued for months. Now I am not a writer. I didn't fare well in language arts in high school, and I never took English in college. The words in this book may not be proper, but I am beyond proud of them! God gave me these stories. I have no idea why, but I pray that they touch at least one life. I hope someone will get to know Jesus through these words. If only one person realizes how much Jesus loves them because of learning of Him from this book, then every single 3:00 a.m. wake-up call would have been worth it. I pray Jesus blesses you today. The reason I wrote this book was to make available stories that prove it is not too late. I had discernment that I should write short stories and mix various topics with both humor and eternal consequences. On October 30, 2012, I was on an elevator flirting with several women. I walked off that elevator with an idea: a book about flirting. During the first week of November 2012, I asked Jesus to give me ideas for a book. In 48 hours, the Holy Spirit gave me 130 ideas for a book. Sixty weeks and 950 hours of work later, I have a complete manuscript. the Bible says I'm just a filthy rag. I'm not a preacher because I'm not called and would be unworthy. I'm not a teacher because I would have no patience, and I'm not a speaker because I'm very shy with large groups. Therefore, the printed virgin*. Maybe I'm an explainer. I prefer to explain my faults and sins rather than point at others. There is a fine line between being judgmental and attempting to explain the truth. I once was told from an old-fashioned "fire and brimstone" preacher that he did not judge people, but people judged themselves with their actions. If U are truly told by "the Son of God" to give someone a message, U better do it. U are not going to like your life for being disobedient. However, U may temporarily not like your life for being obedient. It is a strange dichotomy in the dilemma of life. We have to not wither but have planted seeds in the good ground of life to withstand the persecution. I truly hope those who may feel offended by my humor or Bible's truths . . . will understand that I'm speaking from my heart and only want to help, and I'm incapable of expressing the right words at the right time in person. Please remember I'm in this struggle too. Just because I have written a book . . . does not mean I am exempted from hell. A walk with Jesus and temptation from the devil is a daily battle. In January 2016, Sister Wilma had just completed the Daniel Fast. It was put in her thoughts to start a Prayer Call for people who couldn’t get out to Church during the week. This call would be every Monday at 8:00 am CST. In March 2016 Elder Shirley Rice joined our Prayer Group. She Blessed us with the name Wake Up To Praise and went to Crown Point Indiana to legally get the rights to that name. Later we started a Bible Study Class on Thursday evenings at 7:00 pm CST. Elder Shirley taught our first class, Minister Adrienne Watson taught our second class. Every week we would have a different pastor speak from different states. Among them was Lady Pat’s husband Bishop Alfonso Boone. One day Lady Pat asked Pastor Patterson if he would teach our Bible Study Class, he said yes! We Thank God that Pastor Patterson has continued to teach along with Elder Shirley, empowering us with Gods News!! We are thankful to God for Blessing us with such dedicated and anointed teachers. We appreciate and thank Lady Pamela Patterson and Brother Larry Rice for always allowing their spouses to take time out of their busy schedules to Bless us with Gods Word.
