Handbook Of Terminology written by Hendrik J. Kockaert and has been published by John Benjamins Publishing Company this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-03-13 with Language Arts & Disciplines categories.

Terminology has started to explore unbeaten paths since Wüster, and has nowadays grown into a multi-facetted science, which seems to have reached adulthood, thanks to integrating multiple contributions not only from different linguistic schools, including computer, corpus, variational, socio-cognitive and socio-communicative linguistics, and frame-based semantics, but also from engineering and formal language developers. In this ever changing and diverse context, Terminology offers a wide range of opportunities ranging from standardized and prescriptive to prototype and user-based approaches. At this point of its road map, Terminology can nowadays claim to offer user-based and user-oriented, hence user-friendly, approaches to terminological phenomenona, when searching, extracting and analysing relevant terminology in online corpora, when building term bases that contribute to efficient communication among domain experts in languages for special purposes, or even when proposing terms and definitions formed on the basis of a generally agreed consensus in international standard bodies. Terminology is now ready to advance further, thanks to the integration of meaning description taking into account dynamic natural language phenomena, and of consensus-based terminology management in order to help experts communicate in their domain-specific languages. In this Handbook of Terminology (HoT), the symbiosis of Terminology with Linguistics allows a mature and multi-dimensional reflection on terminological phenomena, which will eventually generate future applications which have not been tested yet in natural language. The HoT aims at disseminating knowledge about terminology (management) and at providing easy access to a large range of topics, traditions, best practices, and methods to a broad audience: students, researchers, professionals and lecturers in Terminology, scholars and experts from other disciplines (among which linguistics, life sciences, metrology, chemistry, law studies, machine engineering, and actually any expert domain). In addition, the HoT addresses any of those with a professional or personal interest in (multilingual) terminology, translation, interpreting, localization, editing, etc., such as communication specialists, translators, scientists, editors, public servants, brand managers, engineers, (intercultural) organization specialists, and experts in any field. Moreover, the HoT offers added value, in that it is the first handbook with this scope in Terminology which has both a print edition (also available as a PDF e-book) and an online version. For access to the Handbook of Terminology Online, please visit ahref="HTTP: DESIGNTIMESP="27189" www.benjamins.com online hot ?http://www.benjamins.com/online/hot//a . The HoT is linked to the Handbook of Translation Studies, not in the least because of its interdisciplinary approaches, but also because of the inevitable intertwining between translation and terminology. All chapters are written by specialists in the different subfields and are peer-reviewed.

Estimating, modelling, controlling and monitoring the flow of concrete is a vital part of the construction process, as the properties of concrete before it has set can have a significant impact on performance. This book provides a detailed overview of the rheological behaviour of concrete, including measurement techniques, the impact of mix design, and casting. Part one begins with two introductory chapters dealing with the rheology and rheometry of complex fluids, followed by chapters that examine specific measurement and testing techniques for concrete. The focus of part two is the impact of mix design on the rheological behaviour of concrete, looking at additives including superplasticizers and viscosity agents. Finally, chapters in part three cover topics related to casting, such as thixotropy and formwork pressure. With its distinguished editor and expert team of contributors, Understanding the rheology of concrete is an essential reference for researchers, materials specifiers, architects and designers in any section of the construction industry that makes use of concrete, and will also benefit graduate and undergraduate students of civil engineering, materials and construction. Provides a detailed overview of the rheological behaviour of concrete, including measurement techniques, casting and the impact of mix design The estimating, modelling, controlling and monitoring of concrete flow is comprehensively discussed Chapters examine specific measurement and testing techniques for concrete, the impact of mix design on the rheological behaviour of concrete, particle packaging and viscosity-enhancing admixtures

Multiple Perspectives On Terminological Variation written by Patrick Drouin and has been published by John Benjamins Publishing Company this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-08-15 with Language Arts & Disciplines categories.

The aim of the present volume is to provide a present-day take on variation in terminology by looking forward and examining what leading scholars in the field are working on and where they are taking research in the field today. This reader is built around three themes arranged according to complementary points of view to stimulate thought on the subject of variation as it is approached today. The first theme, “The social dimension of variation”, includes three contributions dealing with variation across different categories of speakers. This reflects not only the expert/layperson dichotomy but also other more original polarities as the emotional dimension and the issue of diastratic variation across LSPs. The second part of this reader puts forward different tools and methods to identify, describe and manage term variation. The third theme of this reader questions semantics of term variation through the topics of concept saturation, multidimensionality and metaphor. Variation, through this picture of current studies, proves to be the touchstone for the understanding of the major issues of terminology research today. The included papers draw on research in terminology carried out in different language communities - Spanish, French, Portuguese, Italian and Dutch in particular - thereby opening up a window on much of the research carried out in these cultural areas.

A Study On The Scor Model For Assessing Risks In A Supply Chain written by Murali Mg and has been published by GRIN Verlag this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-03-24 with Business & Economics categories.

Master's Thesis from the year 2014 in the subject Business economics - Supply, Production, Logistics, grade: 64, University of Lincoln (PG Business School), course: MSc in Supply Chain and Logistics Management, language: English, abstract: This paper discusses the importance of the SCOR model in assessing risks within the supply chains and makes an attempt to determine how the model applies its scope in addressing risks from internal employees. The application of the SCOR model is only limited to study and to analyze the concepts of supply chain vulnerability and the stakeholder’s interests and doesn’t extend beyond that. The model is applied to Toyota Kirloskar Motor Corporation, by configuring its existing supply chain and identifying the potential internal risks. Based on the analysis, recommendation and suggestions are submitted for a variant of attributes to the SCOR model. In a complex dynamic business environment, supply chains have become the most integral part of the organization. They now, are the tools of reducing costs and adding value (additional) to a product or service. Henceforth, they can be regarded as the crucial part of an organization. However, the quest of organizations and globalization with the aim of constructing an effective means of supply and supply chain has increased the complexity of the supply chain which can often reduce the knowledge and understanding the of the exposure to risk. The risks can arrive from anywhere or from any source. For instance, imagine the port and the harbor industry which was wrecked by Tsunami which erupted in Indian Ocean 2004. This was an unanticipated risk which can be categorized as natural risk (natural disaster). Risks from suppliers can be untimely delivery, increased in costs than agreed or labor strikes and external risks can change government economic policies (changing tax rates and subsidies etc.).While few risks can be anticipated, whilst majority of risks cannot be forecasted (decease of factory worker due to unhealthy conditions or heart stroke), this demands the ongoing need for an effective risk management frame work for assessing risks in the supply chain management. The incorporation of the Supply chain operations model for assessing and evaluating risks have benefitted many supply chains and organizations. Yet, there are certain limitations of the model that fails to address risks in the supply chain. The SCOR model of assessing risks becomes more complex when it’s applied to complex supply chains. The five attributes on which the SCOR model is built has to be tested to determine if there is a need for any other variants or additional attributes that has to be incorporated into the model.
