All of us know that we can portray ourselves differently to different people and situations at any given moment in our lives. We all have also had the experience where we have thoughts and think to ourselves, "I know this thought came from me, but it doesn't seem like 'ME.' In these pages, we share with you how to recognize why you think a certain way, where these thoughts are coming from, what their intentions are, and how we can discipline them, to go forth on their own and serve our greater good. Congratulations for picking up this book. I know it is in your hands for a reason. "G's-Us" (a Schizophrenic Messiah) is a divinely guided body of work. And it is not only for YOU, it is about YOU! In these pages, we learn about how each of the 12 disciples of Jesus is a representation of how the human mind operates. All with their own personality traits and lessons to learn. It is a "Manual of Mind Operation" for you to use in your daily life to not only achieve Health, Wealth, Success, and Prosperity. But you will also access the Jesus Mind in yourself. And in doing so, you will find heaven on earth, here and now. Yes! It is possible for you and all of your personalities to grow into the Messiah. Philippians 2:5 says it like this. "Let this Mind be in You, Which was also in Christ Jesus." And in doing so, you will come to know the Truth that will set you free. You will recognize and hear The Father of all creation speak to you, and Most important of all. You will know yourself. And in this way of thinking. You will be The Schizophrenic "G's-Us" that Jesus was always talking about.

Tragic at times, and nothing short of heroic at other times, the story that is told outlines his experience of schizophrenia, in extensive detail. This memoir gives a voice to those who suffer from the disease, while also educating those who may not be familiar with any of it.

In a seclusion room at Lake Alice Psychiatric Hospital, Peter writes; "My mind was independent of my surroundings. It raced, it dived, it ducked, it soared. Full of wild imaginings of world power, of super intelligence, of supreme goodness, of reward. Twice someone poked a cigarette into the room, through little holes in the window; although I didn't smoke, I took these as offerings, portents, of what was to come." Peter Finlay describes life with schizophrenia in this unflinching and funny memoir. Currently a mature university student, he tells the story of what he's endured, lost and overcome. If you have ever wondered what it would be like to suffer from schizophrenia this book is for you.

This three-part study covers the history of interpretation, theological foundations, and exegesis. Copious illustrations from the author's worldwide travels enhance discussion of Rome's emperors, empire, and ideology as the premier horizon for understanding John's immediate context and meaning. Distinctive contributions include Stevens's effort to re-canonize Revelation by insisting on gospel concord, methodically interpreting all of Revelation through the lens of the seven churches and showing how Revelation's imagery consistently relates more to the incarnation than the Parousia. Stevens bypasses traditional millennial options to argue that Revelation is passion-millennial--the passion of Jesus predicates the passion of the church. Under Stevens's hands, Revelation becomes eminently sensible to the original audience and powerfully pertinent for today's church.

A challenge to each of us to take personal responsibility for repairing the world. "We are taught that every one of us is created in the divine image. All of us can be holy through imitating God.... So, you don’t have to look around or look away. You don’t have to wait for someone to come and do what you were put on this earth to do in the first place. Judaism empowers you, as one of God’s anointed ones, to do more than you ever dreamed possible." —from Chapter 1 The coming of the messiah is anticipated by millions of people of many faiths as the ultimate salve for our spiritual lives and as a way to finally make the world a better place. There Is No Messiah...and You’re It examines the history of messianic hope and anticipation, its evolution in Judaism and Jewish history, and other interpretations of “messiah” that shed new light on what it means to usher in the “kingdom of God.” This fascinating book is our call to see ourselves as the fulfillment of, not the anticipators of, messianic change. Drawing from the Bible, the Talmud, rabbinic sources, and modern-day scholars, Rabbi Robert Levine provides us with an accessible, fascinating understanding of messianic vision, as well as false messiahs throughout Jewish history. He challenges the powerful idea of messiah that has survived in the heart, soul, and ethos of the Jewish people, and reveals the immediacy of the messianic presence in our day—in our own lives. Compelling and controversial, There Is No Messiah...and You’re It inspires us to embody the noblest values of Jewish tradition—prayer, study, mitzvoth, and tzedakah—and embrace our own messianic potential to heal the world.

Madmen and messiahs are often mistaken for one another. But when a lunatic claims to be a deity, there's always a third option: Maybe he's crazy...and a god. It doesn't take long for NYPD psychiatrist Amity Sheridan to diagnose her new patient as a schizophrenic with delusions of godhood - but that doesn't explain how he survived a twenty-storey fall onto Eighth Avenue without a scratch. When Jackrabbit escapes - as he always does - Amity tumbles into a wider, woolier world of gods, legends and heroes recruited to perform an age-old ritual that keeps a terrible evil in check. The key to defeating a villain that gobbles up minds and souls is Jackrabbit's unique knack for being supremely - perhaps even divinely - elusive. Unfortunately, his talent for escaping even the gods themselves makes it that much harder for the good guys to track him down for the job...and their soul-swallowing foe is already laying out the good silverware for a world-sized meal. Geoph Essex uses quicksilver prose and uncompromising wit to explore the elusive nature of gods and legends in a modern world where mass communications and viral video can make short work of either. Forget your catechism, burn the bible, and flush the Quran - these are the deities that the human race earned, not the ones it invented.

Between Rationality And Irrationality written by Mordechai Rotenberg and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-09-29 with Psychology categories.

Jewish Scriptural interpretation entails a potential therapeutic bridge between the rational-material and the irrational-mystic in the world of psychotherapy. PaRDeS, as this system is known, is derived from the following concepts. "P" denotes peshat, the plain interpretation of the text, which translates into a rational interpretation of life. "R" symbolizes remez, hinting at a related religious concept, which becomes a symbolic view of life. "D" stands for derash, the homiletic way of interpreting a text, or a narrative reading of life. And "S" represents sod, or the mystery behind an idea, which in psychological terms becomes a mystic understanding of life. Mordechai Rotenberg believes that it is by engaging readings in a "dialogue" with each other, as in the Jewish hermeneutic tradition, the psychology underlying one's existence may be more readily understood. While Rotenberg acknowledges that it is legitimate to focus on one cognitive-rational or one narrative-storytelling therapeutic method in the course of therapy, he argues that a comprehensive theory of psychotherapy should include treatment possibilities for both rational and irrational manifestations of behavior, thereby engulfing all aspects of human behavior. For Rotenberg, a person's life becomes the "text," subject to being read and interpreted. If that person wishes to change his or her behavior via psychotherapy, then a hermeneutic system must be employed to understand that person's life. However, many systems interpret a person's life according to the particular theory espoused by the therapist. Rotenberg, in contrast, introduces a balanced theory bridging the rational and the irrational. Between Rationality and Irrationality emphasizes that it is more important for a therapist to learn his client's own "language" than to impose his own doctrinaire interpretation. This edition includes a new introduction by the author, as well as an appendix explicating an original psychological interpretation of PaRDeS

Shadows Of The Future written by Patrick Parrinder and has been published by Syracuse University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1995-09-01 with Literary Criticism categories.

H. G. Wells—the inventor of the concept of the time machine and the phrase "the Shape of Things to Come"—described his life's work as one of "critical anticipation." Shadows of the Future identifies the attempt to imagine possible futures as the unifying principle behind Wells's diverse and sometimes wayward literary career. The book unravels the complex layers of meaning in The Time Machine, and shows how throughout his life he sought to exploit the potential of literary and cultural prophecy in new ways. Described by John Middleton Murry as "the last prophet of bourgeois Europe," he was also its first futurologist. In Shadows of the Future Wells's assumption of the prophet's role is related to his championship of the modern scientific outlook, and to the theory and practice of science fiction and utopian literature. Parrinder explores the connections between novelty and repetition, between imagining the future and imagining the past, and between prophecy and parody as literary modes. Wells's science fiction is reexamined both as a projection of the cosmology implicit in the writings of Darwin and Huxley, and as a new variation on the Romantic and Enlightenment themes of such earlier authors as Blake, Gibbon, and Mary Shelley. Later chapters relate Wells's fiction to his nonfiction and look at the uneasy relationship of his utopianism to literary prophecy, and at the paradoxes inherent in the militant internationalism of the " prophet at large." Finally, Wells's influence is traced in a study of the antiutopian fictions of Zamyatin and Orwell, and in a broad account of the connections between science fiction and the scientific outlook down to our own time.

This collection of thirty-eight terrifying tales of serial killers at large, written by the great masters of the genre, plumbs the horrifying depths of a deranged mind and the forces of evil that compel a human being to murder, gruesomely and methodically, over and over again. From Hannibal Lecter (The Silence of the Lambs) to Patrick Bateman (American Psycho), stories of serial killers and psychos loom large and menacing in our collective psyche. Tales of their grisly conquests have kept us cowering under the covers, but still turning the pages. Psychos is the first book to collect in a single volume the scariest and most well-crafted fictional works about these deranged killers. Some of the stories are classics, the best that the genre has to offer, by renowned writers such as Neil Gaiman, Amelia Beamer, Robert Bloch, and Thomas Harris. Other selections are from the latest and most promising crop of new authors. John Skipp, who is also the editor of Zombies, Demons and Werewolves and Shapeshifters, provides fascinating insight, through two nonfiction essays, into our insatiable obsession with serial killers and how these madmen are portrayed in popular culture. Resources at the end of the book includes lists of the genre's best long-form fiction, movies, websites, and writers.
