Jahrhunderts, Note: 1,0, Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf (Philosophisches Institut), Veranstaltung: Naturalisierung der Erkenntnistheorie: Historische und zeitgenössische Beispiele, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Bereits im Titel seines Hauptwerkes „Die Welt als Wille und Vorstellung“ verdeutlicht Schopenhauer die Grundidee seiner Philosophie. Schopenhauer stimmt mit der Auffassung Kants überein, dass der erkennende Mensch die Welt nur innerhalb seiner Vorstellung erfährt, d.h. dass die Welt durch die Erkenntnisweise des Subjekts bedingt ist. Im Gegensatz zu Kant gibt es für ihn jedoch etwas diesen Vorstellungen Zugrundeliegendes und damit unabhängig von aller Erfahrung und Erkenntnis Bestehendes, das Schopenhauer „Wille“ nennt. Der Wille ist kein Ziel oder eine Absicht, sondern eine Art alles durchdringende Kraft, das innere Wesen der Dinge und die Triebkraft der Natur. Als „Ding an sich“ liegt der Wille zwar der gesamten Wirklichkeit zugrunde, aber er erscheint stets in einzelnen Willensphänomenen, die Manifestationen dieses einen Willens sind. Er lehrt, dass allen Einzelerscheinungen, wie sie dem Menschen subjektiv wahrnehmbar sind, ein Objektives, ein Ding an sich zugrunde liege: der Wille. Er betätigt sich unbewusst im Pflanzen- und Mineralreich, bewusst im höheren und niederen Tier. Dieser Wille ist aber im Grunde etwas Nichtseinsollendes. Wer erkannt hat, dass der Wille zum Leben in dieser Welt des Scheins Mangel, Jammer, Qual und Tod sei, sucht die Erlösung durch Verneinung des Willens zum Leben. Diese Resignation, die im Buddhismus ihren Ursprung hat, lag zum Teil in Schopenhauers leicht melancholischer Natur begründet und wurde durch mancherlei schlimme Lebenserfahrung gefördert. Schopenhauers Gedanken beeinflussten F. Nietzsche und R. Wagner nachhaltig.
