Part memoir and part visual journey, Moments Parfaits in Paris is a collection of forty vignettes that relates a very personal way of experiencing one of the most photographed cities in the world. Sylvaine Lang travels to her beloved city several times a year; each visit triggers vivid recollections of her childhood and student days, the people who shaped her life and the strangers she met, the amusing episodes and the tribulations of travel, even when the destination is quite familiar. Each story pairs one of her own photographs and an anecdote. Sylvaine¿s photography stays clear of the typical monumental approach and presents ¿her¿ Paris in an intimate way. The Eiffel Tower is seen through her dirty hotel window, the rabbit in the métro station looks at her expectantly, the glass ceiling of a famous brasserie magically appears in her cup of tea¿ Serendipity and old memories mesh and weave yet another perfect moment. All the venues are indicated on a map for easy reference. Each vignette includes historical notes and travel tips to invite future visitors to discover Paris with a new set of eyes.

#1 BESTSELLER • The apocalyptic vision of a world blasted by plague and tangled in an elemental struggle between good and evil remains as riveting—and eerily plausible—as when it was first published. • The tie-in edition of the nine-part CBS All Access series starring Whoopi Goldberg, Alexander Skarsgard, and James Marsden. A patient escapes from a biological testing facility, unknowingly carrying a deadly weapon: a mutated strain of super-flu that will wipe out 99 percent of the world’s population within a few weeks. Those who remain are scared, bewildered, and in need of a leader. Two emerge—Mother Abagail, the benevolent 108-year-old woman who urges them to build a peaceful community in Boulder, Colorado; and Randall Flagg, the nefarious “Dark Man,” who delights in chaos and violence. As the dark man and the peaceful woman gather power, the survivors will have to choose between them—and ultimately decide the fate of all humanity.

#1 Irish Times Bestseller! A modern travel tale—part personal pilgrimage, part political quest—that captures the power of human resilience "McKiernan sticks his thumb out, and somehow a healthy dose of humanity manages to roll up alongside him. . . . This book is a paean to nuance, decency and possibility."—Colum McCann, National Book Award winner and New York Times bestselling author of Let the Great World Spin and Apeirogon. Following the collapse of Ireland’s Celtic Tiger economy, social activist Ruairí McKiernan questions whether he should join the mounting number of emigrants searching for greater opportunity elsewhere. McKiernan embarks on a hitchhiking odyssey with no money, no itinerary and no idea where he might end up each night. His mission: to give voice to those emerging from one of the most painful periods of economic and social turmoil in Ireland’s history. Engaging, provocative and sincere, Hitching for Hope is a testimony to the spirit of Ireland. It is an inspirational manifesto for hope and healing in troubled times.

The Siegels vowed to do whatever it takes to prevent this from happening to other parents. Right after Victoria passed away, Jackie received a text from one of Victoria's friends, directing her to look in Victoria's bedroom nightstand for a secret diary Victoria had kept-and suggesting they publish it. The Siegels decided to honor Victoria's wish. Victoria's diary, in her own hand and featuring her own art, is bookended by intros by her parents before it and tips and resources after it. Victoria's Voice is a gripping peek inside the mind of a sometimes happy, healthy teen and other times a teen dramatically influenced by drugs and alcohol. This is Victoria's voice-from beyond the grave. It could save your child's life.

Public Health Significance Of Urban Pests written by Xavier Bonnefoy and has been published by World Health Organization this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008 with Medical categories.

The second half of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century witnessed important changes in ecology, climate and human behaviour that favoured the development of urban pests. Most alarmingly, urban planners now face the dramatic expansion of urban sprawl, in which city suburbs are growing into the natural habitats of ticks, rodents and other pests. Also, many city managers now erroneously assume that pest-borne diseases are relics of the past. All these changes make timely a new analysis of the direct and indirect effects of present-day urban pests on health. Such an analysis should lead to the development of strategies to manage them and reduce the risk of exposure. To this end, WHO invited international experts in various fields - pests, pest-related diseases and pest management - to provide evidence on which to base policies. These experts identified the public health risk posed by various pests and appropriate measures to prevent and control them. This book presents their conclusions and formulates policy options for all levels of decision-making to manage pests and pest-related diseases in the future. [Ed.]

Improvising Cinema written by Gilles Mouëllic and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013 with Arts in general categories.

Gilles Mouëllic examines improvisational practices that can be specifically attributed to the cinema and argues in favors of their powers as instigators of unprecedented forms of expression. Improvising Cinema reflects both on the permanence of attempting improvisation and the relationship between technology and aesthetics. Mouëllic concludes preservation becomes even more invaluable in the case of improvisation, as the creative act exists only within the brief time span of the performance.
