Der Katalog beschreibt die Manuskripte aus dem islamischen Kulturraum in der Zentralbibliothek Zurich. Die Sammlung umfasst 90 Dokumente mit 63 arabischen, 23 turkischen und 7 persischen Texten, deren Abschriften zwischen dem 14. und 20. Jh. entstanden sind. Einige Handschriften sind besonders interessant: Ein farbenprachtiger Almanach enthalt Voraussagen fur das Jahr 1685-86 (Ms.Or. 6). Zwei Rollen behandeln die Genealogie der Osmanen (Subhat al-ahbar ), die durch einen lateinischen Kommentar aus dem 17. Jh. erganzt wird. (Ms.Or. 22-23). Von hoher Qualitat ist eine Abschrift von at-Tahtani ar-Razis (gest. 1364) Lawami 'al-asrar, die 1382 in Isfahan entstanden ist (Ms.Or. 120). Einzelne Handschriften enthalten Illuminationen, seltener auch Miniaturen. Der Katalog vermittelt daruber hinaus einen Einblick in die Anfange der Islamstudien, die im Anschluss an die Reformation auch in Zurich in Gang gekommen sind. Der Theologe und Semitist Heinrich Hottinger (1620-1677) unterhielt engen Kontakt zum bekannten Orientalisten Christianus Ravius Berlinas (1613-1677).

The work of Stesichoros, an ancient Greek poet of the early sixth century B.C., is transmitted in fragments only. This volume contains a new edition of some of the most interesting Stesichoros-papyri from the Oxyrhynchus collection. The papyri are analysed under various aspects: survey of relevant secondary literature, introduction about identification and contents of each papyrus (including archaeological evidence), papyrological description, metrics; the edition is complete with a Latin critical apparatus, translation and detailed commentary. A brief general introduction illustrates notorious problems concerning the author, the genre etc. A bibliography and indices are provided at the end of the volume. The book will be welcomed by classicists and papyrologists alike.
