Estudo analítico de imagens e representações da seca, do cangaço e do messianismo nos romances O Cabeleira, de Franklin Távora; Os Brilhantes, de Rodolfo Teófilo; Pedra Bonita, de José Lins do Rego e Seara Vermelha, de Jorge Amado, aqui tomados como discursos que formam um discurso literário sistêmico, tematizador desses fenômenos no romance do Nordeste. As imagens e representações identificadas e analisadas em cada elemento do corpus são postas em interlocução, primeiramente entre os discursos literários, com o intento de flagrar as posicionalidades de cada narrador/enunciador e, em segundo lugar, pelo interdiscurso, para demonstrar as relações e imbricações do discurso literário sistêmico com outras séries não literárias que trataram dos mesmos temas, de modo a surpreender os pontos de aproximação, distanciamento e transgressão identificáveis no entrelugar desses discursos sobre a seca, o cangaço e o messianismo. Résumé Il s'agit d'une étude analytique d'images et de representations de la sécheresse, du 'cangaço' et du messianisme dans les romans O Cabeleira, de Franklin Távora; Os Brilhantes, de Rodolfo Teófilo; Pedra Bonita, de José Lins do Rego e Seara Vermelha, de Jorge Amado, ici consideres comme des discours formateurs d'un discours littéraire systemique, thematisateur de ces phénomènes dans le roman du Nord-Est. Les images et les répresentations identifiées et analysées dans chaque élément de corpus sont mises em interlocution, d'abord entre les discours littéraire, avec l'objectif de surprendre les prises de position de chaque narrateur/énunciateur et en suíte, par l'interdiscours, pour démonstrer les relations et les imbrications de discours littéraire systémique avec d'autres séries nom littéraires qui ont traité des mêmes thémes, afin de repéter les points de rapprochement, d'éloignement et de transgresstion identifiables dans "l'entre-lieu" de ces discours.

For more than thirty years, Fredric Jameson has been one of the most productive, wide-ranging, and distinctive literary theorists in the United States and the Anglophone world. Marxism and Form provided a pioneering account of the work of the major European Marxist theorists--T. W. Adorno, Walter Benjamin, Herbert Marcuse, Ernst Bloch, Georg Lukács, and Jean-Paul Sartre--work that was, at the time, largely neglected in the English-speaking world. Through penetrating readings of each theorist, Jameson developed a critical mode of engagement that has had tremendous in.uence. He provided a framework for analyzing the connection between art and the historical circumstances of its making--in particular, how cultural artifacts distort, repress, or transform their circumstances through the abstractions of aesthetic form. Jameson's presentation of the critical thought of this Hegelian Marxism provided a stark alternative to the Anglo-American tradition of empiricism and humanism. It would later provide a compelling alternative to poststructuralism and deconstruction as they became dominant methodologies in aesthetic criticism. One year after Marxism and Form, Princeton published Jameson's The Prison-House of Language (1972), which provided a thorough historical and philosophical description of formalism and structuralism. Both books remain central to Jameson's main intellectual legacy: describing and extending a tradition of Western Marxism in cultural theory and literary interpretation.

Ablaut, the grammatically conditioned vowel alternations found in e.g. English sing vs. sang vs. sung, is one of the most characteristic features of the Indo-European languages. The different ablaut grades seem to be related to the position of the accent in Proto-Indo-European. A good understanding of the relationship between accent and ablaut in Proto-Indo-European requires thorough analyses of the role played by the two phenomena in the Indo-European daughter languages.
The aim of the volume is to present the state of the art in current work on accent and ablaut in Proto-Indo-European and its daughter languages.
