When it comes to our Christian walk‭, ‬we're lying to ourselves if we think it comes without questions‭. ‬This insightful volume is a journey through questions‭. ‬It's an adventure where doubts are allowed and sincere questions are good‭. ‬The true Gospel invites examination and stands up under‭ ‬scrutiny‭. ‬Come along on this journey and see for yourself‭!‬ Starting from Genesis and letting the Bible tell‭ ‬its own story without presuppositions‭, ‬John Bullock weaves a picture of how God has orchestrated our salvation from sin‭, ‬death‭,‬‭ ‬and ourselves‭. ‬When we clear the eyes of our hearts and allow ourselves to see the panorama of God's persistent love and the brilliant complexity of His salvation plan‭, ‬we'll see that the God who reveals Himself is better than we have imagined and our salvation is more thoroughgoing than we knew‭.‬ John Bullock‭ ‬retired at the rank of Colonel after a 37-year career in the US Air Force‭. ‬He is a Christian who has happily proven that God blesses honest curiosity‭, ‬which‭, ‬when mixed with sincere faith‭, ‬uncovers treasures put here by God for our finding‭ (‬Prov‭. ‬25:2‭). ‬He resides in Colorado Springs‭, ‬Colorado‭, ‬with his wife‭, ‬Cheryl‭. ‬Together they have three grown children and three grandchildren‭.‬‭ ‬ Over my 50‭ ‬years of ministry this is the best explanation I have read of the inner workings of salvation‭.‬ ‭-- ‬Chaplain‭ (‬Lieutenant Colonel‭) ‬W‭. ‬T‭. ‬Permenter‭, ‬USA‭, ‬Ret‭.‬ I invite you to‭ ‬"Buckle your seatbelts and hold on to your hats"‭ ‬and join John on a quest that will leave you asking yourself‭, ‬"Why didn't I ever see that before‭?‬"‭ ‬and thanking God that John took the time to see what we've previously only looked at‭. ‬ ‭-- ‬Dr‭. ‬Delron Shirley Former Dean‭, ‬World Harvest Bible College/Indiana Christian University Founder‭, ‬Teach All Nations Mission

Psalm Basics For Catholics written by John Bergsma and has been published by Ave Maria Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-03-16 with Religion categories.

In his third back-to-basics look at the Bible, popular theology professor and bestselling Catholic author and speaker John Bergsma highlights the presence of Jesus in the psalms and helps us understand their meaning in light of the story of salvation. Bergsma employs the same conversational style and simple illustrations found in Bible Basics for Catholics and New Testament Basics for Catholics to help bridge the gap between the world of contemporary Catholics and the ancient world of the Bible. In Psalm Basics for Catholics, John Bergsma introduces us to King David, the story of Israel, and the salvation of the Jewish people through the coming of Jesus. For more than two thousand years, Christians have sung, chanted, and prayed the psalms, a practice of worship inherited from our Jewish ancestors in faith. Whether prayed during Mass, the Liturgy of the Hours, or in personal reflection, these ancient hymns continue to be a guiding light for Catholics. Yet rarely do we step back and look at how the psalms fit into the story of salvation revealed in the Bible the way Bergsma does here. Bergsma also addresses common questions about the psalms, including Do the psalms really predict Jesus? What do we make of the so-called curse psalms? Why do we pray the psalms in the Liturgy of the Hours? How do I read and pray the psalms? Bergsma's insightful, practical examination of the psalms helps Catholics see how their promise is fulfilled in Christ.

The Art Of The Sacred written by Graham Howes and has been published by Bloomsbury Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006-11-24 with Art categories.

The field of 'art and religion' is fast becoming one of the most dynamic areas of religious studies. Uniquely, "The Art of the Sacred" explores the relationship between religion and the visual arts - and vice versa - within Christianity and other major religious traditions. It identifies and describes the main historical, theological, sociological and aesthetic dimensions of 'religious' art, with particular attention to 'popular' as well as 'high' culture, and within societies of the developing world. It also attempts to locate, and predict, the forms and functions of such art in a changing contemporary context of obligation, modernity, secularism and fundamentalism. The author concentrates on four chief dimensions where religious art and religious belief converge: the iconographic; the didactic; the institutional; and the aesthetic. This clear, well-organised and imaginative treatment of the subject should prove especially attractive to students of religion and visual culture, as well as to artists and art historians.

A revised and abridged edition of Beyond Calvinism and Arminianism: An Inductive Mediate Theologyof Salvation, in Which theologian/missiologist Olson gives the fruit of a 25-year theological pilgrimage. His inductive focus on Scripture results in a middle view of salvation truth, thus resolving polarized extremes. This edition is much more readable and accessible for most Christians. The exegetical methodology emphasizes context, word studies, and grammar of all relevant passages, with extensive support for eternal security and refutation of deterministic concepts of salvation. In the foreword, Dr. Tim LaHaye refers to the incredible distribution of the academic edition, which sold out in 3 years. A revised academic edition is forthcoming in 2006.

Did Jesus enjoy the beatific vision of God on earth that Christians hope to enjoy only in heaven? This important question is related to a whole series of questions about Jesus, his knowledge and self-consciousness. Did he know he was God's Son? What did he know of his saving mission? These issues are linked to a fundamental question: Is the Saviour we need one who is altogether like us or one who is in some ways unlike us? This book argues that God gave us a Saviour with beatific knowledge, and who in this respect is very unlike us indeed. The answer commonly given by Catholic theologians to this question underwent a dramatic shift in the middle of the 20th century. Previously there had been a general unanimity based on the teaching of Thomas Aquinas that the answer was 'Yes': the earthly Christ did indeed possess heavenly knowledge. The theological situation was then radically altered to one where the answer 'No' became predominant. Theologians preferred to treat Christ's knowledge in terms of self-consciousness, ordinary human knowing, faith, prophecy and mysticism, not the beatific vision. This book addresses the reasons why theologians abandoned Aquinas's thesis, arguing it has been too easily dismissed. Considering the evidence of Scripture and Tradition, and then moving from Christ's extraordinary knowledge through his ordinary knowledge, to his will, emotions and bodily life, the book sketches an outline of the extraordinary Saviour God has in fact given us and who is indeed the Saviour humanity truly needs.
