Environment In The Balance written by Jonathan Z. Cannon and has been published by Harvard University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-04-22 with Law categories.

The first Earth Day in 1970 marked environmentalism’s coming-of-age in the United States. More than four decades later, does the green movement remain a transformative force in American life? Presenting a new account from a legal perspective, Environment in the Balance interprets a wide range of U.S. Supreme Court decisions, along with social science research and the literature of the movement, to gauge the practical and cultural impact of environmentalism and its future prospects. Jonathan Z. Cannon demonstrates that from the 1960s onward, the Court’s rulings on such legal issues as federalism, landowners’ rights, standing, and the scope of regulatory authority have reflected deep-seated cultural differences brought out by the mass movement to protect the environment. In the early years, environmentalists won some important victories, such as the Supreme Court’s 1973 decision allowing them to sue against barriers to recycling. But over time the Court has become more skeptical of their claims and more solicitous of values embodied in private property rights, technological mastery and economic growth, and limited government. Today, facing the looming threat of global warming, environmentalists struggle to break through a cultural stalemate that threatens their goals. Cannon describes the current ferment in the movement, and chronicles efforts to broaden its cultural appeal while staying connected to its historical roots, and to ideas of nature that have been the source of its distinctive energy and purpose.

Gavin Seah’s True Humility is today’s answer to finding true peace and balance in life. How often have we tried to seek peace through practicing a YOLO mindset, hoped for happiness in the pursuit of wanderlust, or looked to social media to strengthen our identity? These are common behaviors we engage in, sometimes without even realizing it. Inevitably, we later find ourselves in a never-ending state of frustration, anxiety, and depression. Like many in today’s culture and society, Gavin didn’t know that he was searching for happiness and meaning in the wrong places, and he became a victim of his own self-focused behaviors. He also battled the effects of bullying, racism, and ostracism from his past, experiences that affected the way he looked at the world. In True Humility, Gavin shares his personal stories, observations about life, and key takeaways to help readers understand the practice of True Humility. Through powerful insights and actionable advice, he shows us how to reclaim peace and regain the balance we need. You’ll be able to recognize and identify everyday practices in our world that are rooted in self-centered behaviors, learn about three specific moral values that can positively shape your life, discover how to embody the characteristics of True Humility, and begin to create an impact that makes everyone around you better. When you take on the posture of True Humility in your daily life, you elevate it. You’ll be uplifted and changed, able to live at your best.

Seeking Balance written by A. Pablo Iannone and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-07-28 with Political Science categories.

The problems and issues arising from globalization are difficult to resolve, in part because our ways of conceptualizing the conflicts and responding to them are inadequate. This book fills this gap, conceiving of globalization as a consequence of economic, political, technological, scientific, and cultural changes. A. Pablo Iannone provides a taxonomy of globalization processes, investigates the consequences of each, and formulates a comprehensive approach for dealing with them. While his emphasis is philosophical, this is not a single-discipline book. Rather, it belongs at the intersection of philosophy, economics, political science, and technology. Its discussions address issues concerning globalization and correlate the processes of fragmentation and dislocation in a realistic manner.Iannone focuses on concrete and current cases, from the global economic and financial issues posed by the multi-centered nature of contemporary business and technology, through the pressures of ever increasing information overload across the planet. He explores the environmental and social challenges associated with current Amazonian development and its significance to weather patterns on Earth. He considers the issues surrounding the use of robots in war from Pakistan through Mexico, and the militarization of space. In short, the approach, while based on theoretical concerns, is solidly grounded in highly practical applications, which are global in their implications.

Think Logically Live Intuitively written by R. J. Madaus and has been published by Hampton Roads Publishing Company this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2005 with Consciousness categories.

J. R. Madaus is a computer network executive who found himself suddenly experiencing expanded states of consciousness that included out-of-body trips and spontaneous healings. Instead of ignoring or suppressing these "paranormal" experiences, he immersed himself in information on extraordinary phenomena, and took on a heroic quest. His journey led him to the laboratories of frontier science, the theories of quantum physics, and the ancient wisdom traditions of the world. It led him, too, to a series of programs at places like The Monroe Institute and the Institute of HeartMath, which showed him how to let extraordinary events enrich his ordinary life. Think Logically, Live Intuitively, his humorous and insightful account of his search, makes a powerful case that the key to a successful life is our ability to balance the knowledge, reason, and wisdom of the head with the desire, intuition, and passion of the heart.

Orthopedics written by Sarmiento Augusto and has been published by JAYPEE BROTHERS PUBLISHERS this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-15 with Medical categories.

The author clearly states that his comments often are based on vicariously obtained information, while other times are the product of personal clinical or research experiences. The realization that there is not a fixed, indisputable system or technique that under all circumstances is the only one appropriate, either in theory or in practice, calls for objectivity, particularly at a time when financial considerations have become seminal in the everyday practice of the profession. The plethora of new surgical techniques or implants that are on a daily basis enthusiastically marketed and rapidly accepted before sufficient period of study, call for as much understanding as possible of every available option. Failure to adhere to these precepts eventually harms patients and seriously contributes to the already dangerous escalation in the cost of orthopedic care. This book beautifully describes the balance between the surgical and nonsurgical approaches to orthopaedic care not only for sound professional reasons but for economic ones as well. Topics covered under reconstructive surgery, general trauma, progress in total hip surgery, smoking and fracture healing, wires (broken) total hip, electrical stimulation, etc. Section on Miscellaneous addresses variety of topics of philosophical or political nature. The ADDENDA contains addresses and abbreviated articles dealing on topics that shed light into authors overall personal attitudes toward a changing discipline. This book is useful for graduates, postgraduates, orthopedic surgeons and residents.
